  1. another thread resurection.... engines gone..now looks like this... Dash removed...(very quickly i might add) by my wife.. Hopefully as the 24v sump is a bit shallower there will be a bit more room down here... sadly the 24v is still sat on a pallet. The guy we bought the lump/loom etc off from e38 forgot to put the engine loom and a few other parts on the pallet when it was collected. He said hed posted the loom down nearly 4weeks ago but wont provide us with proof off postage so we can track it and hasnt mentioned the other parts that are missing. He's now refusing to reply to pm, pho
  2. cheers, the side exit is a bit of a marmitemod. Im happy with it though. Thanks to admin for resetting my original login details Gav
  3. had similar on a vr and changed the valve stem oil seals with the head on. Didnt cure it so now looking at changing rings and having head refurbed. No loss of power but it its charged and losing nearly 7psi, think this may be blowback. Did a compression test and although the rear bank were oily all ssemed within tolerance (but it was a dry test). Leakdown test wasnt conclusive
  4. you too buddy, ive still got your pliers, tried pming you off e38 to get you addy when we got back Hopefully see you at e38 Gav

  13. that company is mc racing in switzerland. The belts are available from them, the smaller pulley belt is available in the uk as is the toothed belt version. the larger multi v alternator belt is available from RUF motorsport in switzerland or through mc racing. The z is a good charger, we fitted one to my other halfs rado last year, on standard inj with a leaking headgasket and belt slip still managed 284bhp 261lbft. This was using a rising rate fuel pressure reg. Highly recommend wayne @chipwizards in rochdale, top bloke and went out of his way to help. Gav
  14. try mc tuning in switzerland they do parts for the zed now
  15. slacken off the tooth belt drive slightly, sounds like its too tight. This will reduce the wailing noise considerably Gav

  17. Can anyone answer a couple of leccy window questions- What number and position is the window and mirror relay? What number and position is window and mirror fuse? On a 5 dorr where does the loom plug into on the fuse box for the rear window switches that sit in the dash? Cheers Gav
  18. Has anyone got a how to guide on replacing the valve stem oil seals on VR6? Also need a list of tools needed if possible. Ive heard there is a tool to allow this to be done on the head, (air line pressurises the system keeping the valve up) also heard the one about feeding a bit of rope in the psark plug hole, till it hits the valve, rocking till tdc then the rope sits under the valve keeping it open. Other than the long nose valve pliers what else do i need to replace the seals? Got everything else to get the head off etc. Thanks in advance Gav
  19. right, any help here would be greatly appreciated. Working on a rado vr at the moment, its just had the head gasket done Whilst it was being done it was found to have no thermostat. According to the owner this had been removed 2yrs previous due to overheating problems (which will explain why it always ran cold). The gasket didnt fail completely but had started to go and was losing a bit of water. Used a little bit of oil but nothing major, circa 1ltr per 1000miles which iirc is acceptable on a 160k engine which this is. Head was checked for trueness, all was fine and no cracks. H/G replaced a

  21. 18th April. (Every 3rd Wednesday of the month) - Meet starts a 7.30pm **Not The Cinema Enterance** For all you guys who need your No rice fix, heres the next best thing! I must state that the meet is only outside in the summer, notice a few people getting confused from old pics! The car park where were meeting is at the back of bluewater. Its the carpark nearer to House Of Fraser according to the map. Were meeting inside the muti-storey carpark (middle floor). Its not that hard to get to but bluewater is a big place! As your comming down to bluewater (Via A2) stay in the right lane and take
  22. aloha, getting desperate now, trying to source a multi v belt for a z-engineering charger. The exact size needed is a 7DPK1710 mulit v belt. Theres a 5mm gap between the troughs. Can get away with a 6-rib or even an 8 or or 9 rib as i can take some ribs off. Anyone know of anybody that can make belts up to spec? Tried all the likely places like gates etc but no use Gav
  23. Aloha, Im in the process of retro fitting leccy windows and mirros in my mk3 estate . Whereabouts and what number is the window/ mirror relay? it doesnt say on the back of my fusebox cover. Has anyone else ever retro fitted leccy windows and mirros into their mk3? (prob not being a vr forum) Im hoping i can just plug and play the window looms into the A+B pillar sockets without having to add a loom from the fusebox to these sockets. Any help greatly appreciated Gav
