  1. That's what i like to hear. ta
  2. What sort of air filters do people run? I was thinking of getting an ITG panel filter which come oiled, but I have been warned of oiled filters as it can affect the air flow meter and make them fail (I had heard of this with already with the 1.8T's). Anyone had any probs? Cheers.
  3. I bought my VR with a siezed lump, and a new engine from an auto Sharan. Now I know the engine is sound as we drove it in the Sharan, but with it having been an auto, we need to use the existing Golf manual gearbox. The car has just hit 110k, according to it's previous owner, the gearbox was fine - but never having driven it I'm a little dubious. Are there any known problems with them? Would it be worth sourcing a low mileage replacement box? I know the 16v's have probs with their syncro mesh's on lower gears, anything like that with the VR's? Cheers for any help.
  4. As far as I am aware the fan's are the same, they just mount differently (different surround) to the Corrado - I'll check the part numbers in a bit to make sure if you like..
  5. Ouch, £800 for a rad fan!! There is one on eBay at the moment, £106 Buy it now and it's brand new - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Genuine-VW-Corrado-VR6-Electric-Radiator-Fan_W0QQitemZ150014885222QQihZ005QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Might be worth a look?
  6. Have a search for Motec, actually here is an Owen Developments link with some info: http://www.owendevelopments.co.uk/products/motec.asp A friend of mine has the M48 pro system running on his sprint turbo puma - it's awesome!
  7. I wouldn't bother with adjustable damping, my Koni's on my old car were adjustable, and as you predicted they were adjusted when fitted, then not touched for 3 years! In my experience, the standard damping is right for the car anyway.
  8. Looks like a nice clean motor - green was my top choice, ended up with black though!
  9. I'd like an Audi RS6 - pratical and quick!
  10. Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've not got all the documentation for it yet, so I can't check the service book. Richievr, thanks - I'll get the chassis number and PM you Vdubgirl, I'm glad there are fellow lady VR owners on here, I'll have to come along to a meet once it's finished.
  11. My other half is fitting A/C in mine when he switches the engine - I'm happy to do a guide if it's wanted....
  12. You also need to wire it into the ECU AFAIK - which is apparently the tricky bit as you need to find the specific pins. I think it's the A/C 'readyness' and the fan controls that come from the ECU - but don't hold me to that!
  13. No idea - it was filthy when I got it, put a quick coat of polish on it tonight - but it was getting dark by the time I finished so that's not something I noticed. It looks quite shiny in the picture, it's not really!
  14. Hi guys, I'm a bit of a newbie to VR's, only having picked up mine a the weekend. So please excuse this very basic question. I bought the car cheap, as it needs work including paint. It looks like it's been car washed it's entire life, the paint is at flat as anything - but I have budgeted for an entire re-spray - great! My question is, I can't find the build sticker in the boot to find out what colour the car is, I have spent some time looking for codes for 'VW black's' - but there seems to be loads of them, and I can't work out which ones are specific to the mk3. It's a P reg 96 non highli
  15. In the process of getting it at the mo. It needs a bit of work (new engine, but we've got a sweet replacement) and I'll probably paint it too - but it's a bargain! It's a black, 3 door P reg, non highline, but we're fitting A/C and it comes with highline wheels so I'm only the leather short! :-d Probs won't be ready for E38 though - although we're still going
  16. Yep, this is the first time I've found pics of your car!
  17. Hi guys I have had a lot of work done by a bodyshop called NW Autobodies in Hanham, Bristol. They're top guys and produce very very good work. They did a bare metal respray on our mk2 Golf, plus smaller work on our other cars...
