  1. well proof is in the pudding....mine's practically dead anyway so nothing to lose, Plus people want silly money for them on forums, even though VRs themselves are very cheap now.

  3. update.. cheers for that Paul .....got an absolute bargain £275 obd1 delivered 83,000 on the clock. Straight swap nice and easy 60 day guarantee... should tell if it's a smoker within a few days hahaha
  4. My rings have gone and it's cheaper to replace the engine than rebuild.
  5. about 8 hours labour matey staright swap, about £3- 400, where did you get the engine from mate i need a donor engine as well!

  7. tbh you wont see much improvement. But i'd say they were a straight replacement. But what do i know haha the only way to get real powere from a vr is charging
  8. didn't see many vr6's down the pod???? Saw a red one that did a good early 15, a turboed blue rado and that was it. I got killed by a renault williams that was running 14's, even though my engine's fooked. Best I ran was 16.2, not bad for a smokey vr, just needed some red die for the red arrow effect.
  9. cheers i've read loads of posts on here about decat pipes and everyone seems to think it doesn't do much? Mine seems to have been unleashed?? whether my cat was fooked i don't know but it seems a lot more powerful with the decat??
  10. first thing i'd check is fuses, sunroof will need a new motor, which is easy to replace, Boot should open by key but can be a beatch? Central locking runs by the pump which is near the drivers side rear light cluster inside the boot. Leccy window could be a severed wire, when you open door where the hinges are is a load of wires tucked in a black sleeve, also could be faulty switches , might need an auto electrician for the window,
  11. ran a bit lumpy at first, a bit jumpy and hesitant ?? Could this have been the maf getting used to it>? was okay after i opened it up a bit on some national speed limits. Do you need to reset the ecu? If so how do you do it?

Hi mate I reckon it's just the heater matrix that's gone, it's a very common fault. yeah Nick is good even though his phone manner sucks and he is constantly busy. he's a good mechanic. worth getting someone else to do it though, it's a bitch of a job, I saw you as well mate, Always keep my eye out for other Vrs in S Yorks ...not many about these parts edit....no i don't think you'd lose any water .

  17. nahh i want a donor engine as my rings are gone and it would be cheaper to get another engine, just wondered if i can use an obd2 engine and marry it with my existing obd1 manifold and ecu etc.
  18. i'm not going to do a full transplant I just want the engine, Bottom end and head, I will fit obd1 mani etc to it .

  20. standalone? will an r32 lump run on the vr6 loom and ecu if mapped?
