  2. yes it is a common problem, from your description sounds like it mate, it's a bit of a bitch undoing the bolt in the footwell, Switch is about a tenner from GSF, Charged labour is about 2 hours. I did it in about an hour. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2532481 edit: the round, gold bolt is obviously on the other side on right hand drive cars
  3. 20+ of us lot going ...can't wait, wellies at the ready
  4. 1. most probably pump 2. are you losing coolant? white smoke etc? dodgy sensor, VAG COM needed? 3. window motor and or regulator need replacing.
  5. oN saying that don't go and buy a battery on the strength of a hunch, they're not cheap. I would ask around, I'm no auto electrician. Let us know the solution matey.
  6. put money on the battery mate, get a decent Varta D15
  7. Are you having any starting issues? battery?
  8. just buy a vr6 ....cheap as these days, less hassle, Sell the gti on
  9. negative spin, no pm would make such a statement, unless they want to lose an election!
  10. Inters is for me one of the best shows...has everything you need, strip, skid pan etc. On the otherhand the camping arrangements are always a massive JOKE, fully booked for this year already?? Why they don't let people camp in the actual show is beyond me........masses of grass everywhere. £25 for a weekend is good value for what it offers...which is a lot more then boring show n shine shows.
  11. the loom plugs into colour coded sockets that can be seen if you take the clocks out
  12. anything before engine number AAA217001 will have double chains
  13. replace the abs dash light with CL trim piece
  14. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1789539
  15. I'd say you need a new window regulator and or motor http://www.gtishrine.com/windowreg.php http://www.pocketrocket.ca/mk3_window_regulator.html
  16. Just thought i'd post this to help others that may encounter problems of the third kind. My clocks kept repeatedly resetting themselves which was very, very annoying as you can imagine. I checked all fuses, relays, earths, even swapped over clocks etc and still the same. Well the culprit was the bloody ignition switch, apparently these things cause some right havoc from not letting the car start through to wipers, stereos and lights not working etc. Worth a check if you have electrical gremlins.
  17. already a meet in your area mate ...see www.southyorkshiredubs.com
  18. no worries mate, good to meet you. Like the car mate
  19. its £2 to park up, the house is about £10 to get in if your bringing the mrs but yeah its just a chill out, probably a bunch of 30+s talking dubs, and probably a bit of a kick about weather permitting. Ice creams the lot haha edit... a few regulars coming from Manchester and theres' no way it takes an hour and a half from Manchester in a VR haha, specially on the snake
  20. yeah mayo can also be due to only using them for short journeys haha. Not always a sign of a problem. Give it a good drive and check all the gears, boxes tend to crunch in reverse and first :
  21. 1. rust on sills, get under the car 2. Chain rattle, right hand side of engine, 3. smoke, check the engine from cold for smoke, Also check for smoke when you boot it. Give it a proper test drive and keep an eye on the rear mirror 4. check dipstick and oil cap for mayo. 5. check all the electrics, windows (everything), mfa onboard comp etc 6. Go around the car and look for signs rust, bubbling etc 7.Ideally if you have a laptop and vagcom, stick it on a diagnostic 8. Get them to put it through a fresh MOT prior to purchase 9. Check all the history if any for the chains being replaced? 10. Do
  22. yeah its a meet mate . Good bunch of people, quality location and like you say a good excuse for a drive out
