Thanks, yea I was reading about chain rattle, I know mention about "mayo" under the cap, my mates Merc had that a few years back, but it was simply because it had used on long'ish journey's, but I know that isnt allways the case though. I cant see them putting through an mot, unless its only got about a month ect left I'll just my eye's n ears open as best I can

If I cant get a mate to come with me, what should I be looking out for in general? I know about the usual things, eg bubbling ex tank is poss h/g, b/joints, bearing's, but if the VR's have hidden faults. I'll do a search too, but its just there's somthing I'll miss, cheers. I'll say this (and I'm just being sarky)...if VW are supposed to be so reliable, then why is there so "thing" to look out for when guying lol.
