  1. As stated, after a VR6 Corrado or Golf. I am in Berkshire but can travel for the right car. - Car must be solid and mechanically sound, with MOT (or will have an MOT put on it) - Looking for a standard car, or very close to standard. - Manual or Auto considered. Drop me a line with what you have! royster777@hotmail.com Cheers Matt
  2. Hi, Thanks for the reply - yes, solenoid 6 appears to be for pressure sensing/relief. My syptoms are some off behaviour on kick down (perhaps 1-2 seconds of free revving before selecting gear, and the odd jerky change from 2nd>3rd)...the rest of the time the car drives fine! Do you think I could just remove the solenoid and give it a clean rather than buy a new solenoid? Thanks again
  3. Hi All, Some of you may have seen my other post about some issues on my VR... 1. Some starting problems from cold (needs throttle), and lumpy idle for first few minutes 2. Auto shift kickdown / issue when shifting from 2nd>3rd Well, I now have fault codes... 00268 - shift solenoid 6, n93 (done some research, and it says this is the epc - pressure sensor solenoid) 00287 - abs/wheel speed signal 00532 - tranmssion control module voltage - low battery or bad ground. 00668 battery power voltage terminal 3 Has anyone expereinced or seen these codes before? Also, I am trying to source a solenoid
  4. I might have this on mine too - have some funny shifts on kickdown and when pressing on a bit. Ran a fault code reader last night and it returned a few faults including battery terminal issues, a shift solenoid, and transmission volatge sensor? Will let you know how it goes.
  5. An update - it actually does not seem any better with the fluid change, although I suppose a positive was that the fluid that came out of the box was actually quite clean with no visible signs of wear or contaminents. Its going to get fault code read this week, as the problem is pissing me of a little! The car drives fine, all gears select fine, hit top gear and kicks down fine on motorway, but have noticed that this seems to be a problem when around town...on inclines/declines, and when throttling into a corner. If the fault code reader shows up nothing I will be looking for a new auto box, o
  6. Ok, update - I have done all the 'resets' and this is still occuring - but after doing some more research it does seem like on kickdown the car enters 'neutral' for a few seconds, then grips the gear and takes off! It would seem this is the sign of bad ATF - a will look at doing a fluid flush and change and will not be using kickdown anymore in the meantime! If anyone knows someone near me (Berkshire) who can perform the fluid change, it would be appreciated!
  7. Thanks! Took her for a drive at the weekend for a proper test...and it only occurs from when going from 1st>2nd on kickdown..and does not happen when using manual selection i.e 1,2,3. Will try what you guys have suggested, but for now..it does not bother me too much - I enjoy the gentle drive of the car off of kickdown, and if ever need a bit of poke I guess I can use the manual selection.
  8. Thanks Both - will look at this. Someone today mentioned a distributor cap might be on its way out or need a clean. Any thoughts on this?
  9. Cheers guys, i will try 1. Reset overnight and then leave to Idle 2. Throttle cable adjust 3. ATF change Any other advice is appreciated!
  10. Hey All, I done a search and see a few non start problems on this page...but nothing quite similar to mine...so here goes. Seems like my 1997 auto needs a tad of throttle in the morning for 1-2 seconds to get her started? She then fires, runs a bit lumpy for a few more seconds, then evens out and drives fine. It does seem to be from cold...and then she rarely sees this problem again for the rest of the day, until the next morning. Also noticed that on the occasions I have garaged it, it starts first time..even after 1 week! Things I may start with are distributor, maybe fuel pump/prime? If any
  11. Gooday All! Recently brought an Auto vr6, 1997, 113k, full history. Was out on Friday, and though I would give the kickdown a try (not that I am too fussed about nailing the car/using kickdown on a regular basis) and noticed that it can be a little dleayed, or possibly slipping? Seems ok from 1st, 2nd...but 2nd to 3rd can have a little delay or hold off? The car drives fine - no knocks, bangs etc etc...and the previous owner was a reserved chap who had owned it for 10 years - and it would seem the carpet/mat had been obstructing the kickdown button until I actually adjusted this. Does anyone
  12. I am presuming this is a cat back system? If so... this is a deal! http://www.performancecentre.co.uk/p/sv_pl.asp?VC=VWGOL03&PTC=EXS06

  18. Was on my way home last night amd a JCW mini pulled up next to me at the lights, he caned it off so I gave chase, all I can say is wow , them cars handle fantastic! I really did struggle to get anywhere near him around the roundabouts, but started to reel him in on the straights, but ran out of road! Has anyone else had any expieriences with these cars? On another mini note, here is my mates 245bhp mini accelerating to 150 bannans on his own private road http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi9AbgxBx-Y
  19. I completely agree, Jap cars really do suck. Sure they are quick, but the lack and form of class and the interiors are bland. I cannot see myself ever owning a Jap car except maybe a 350z as they are kind of smart and are a v6 As for vr6's not being quick, its all relative. Most hatches will dust a VR off the lights, especially modern hatches, but as soon as a VR gets into its stide its a very impressive car i think. I love catching people out when they think i am gone! 1st and 2nd they think they have me, as soon as I hit 3rd I reel em in! Not much can match a VR for motorway pace. People
  20. 1. Thoughful 2. Stressy 3. Fun Any ladys who wish to meet me, PM. LOL
  21. Oh cool! I have been waiting on a thread like this... 1. People that drive too slow and dont indicate and then flash you or swear at you when you go past... 2. People in supermarkets, who seem to waddle around aimlessley, or are on the phone, or push thier trolleys at a snails pace. 3. When walking in a busy high street - i.e London, people who walk straight towards you and dont move.. 4. People who count out £10.20 in 10 pence and 5 pence pieces when thier is a massive que in a shop! That will be all for now I think....
  22. Thats a bit bad really, sorry to hear they mate. No garage is too good for a VR6! Oh well, there loss.
  23. Ha! PMSL that cheered me up... Some people just deserve that
