  1. If the regulators go the windows startwobbling all over the place, its a common fault (mk2's as well) - my drivers side reg is on its way out. Not really sure whats causing yyour problem though. Sounds a bit strange have you got a total closure alarm or something? I know with my old mk3 16V if you held the key all the way to the left for a few seconds it would raise all the windows up for you- it might be a sensor or something like that??? Maybe someone whose got ETKA might be able to help????

  4. Thanks six appeal :-) Its a hofele edition 4 grill. Noticed it while looking at the 'car of the month' on pocket rocket site..... Started having a look into the kits from different companies and came across it- personally i think its nice and a bit different to the usual debadged grille... ive seen them for 100 quid :-) If anone finds them cheaper let me know ;-)
  5. Use your imagination a little (and see past my very crude photoshop skills!) and give me your thoughts on this. Its more or less the grille im thinking of buying- although its missing the black mesh... Also anyone know if its possible to get a replacement lens for FK clear front fog light- mines cracked..... Thanks acf - and ta for looking that up in the Bentley :-) I before i get them to do the head i will get them to do a wet compression check to see if its the rings..... and geast b J14 turn left for Stonehouse follow the road into stone house- keep going until you see a bp on your right- turn in their they are behind the BP garage. Really friendly and they know VR6's very well. One of the very few garages i do trust with my VR TBH as they race em..... :-) I can get you thenumber if you like pm me....

  9. I think Jay might be talking about the whole motherboard (blackbox) rather than just the data chip.
  10. ahhh didnt know that and i wasnt told it either. I did ask if their was any way telling if it is top end or rings. Thought their was no way so just pay it and be done with it.... I have been topping the oil up quite frequently however i was using a fairly thin oil - 5w-40w. Ive just changed to a semi 10w 40. Im going to watch it very carefully over the next few weeks....

  12. Pete: i think you are probably right. Got my magnecor leads coming soon as well and sorted everything else Vince told me too so well see what happens the next RR day. Whatever im going to end up paying as i want to make sure its in tip top condition for nurburgring next year ;-) ACF: im not sure he did do a wet compression test. The test showed as follows:- 1: 150 2: 170 3: 155 4: 150 5: 120 6: 130 Now compression on 5 and 6 seems to be the issue as its much lower than the others. Why do 5 and 6 stick in my mind? Isnt there a weak point on th VR6 on these cyls???

  14. Yeah changed the leads and removed the power boost valve but it just dont seem right. The occasional blue smoke got my head thinking as well- i think its down to too many doobies and paranoia lol

  16. The cost doesnt seem that bad but it just seems like a bottomless moneypit at the moment- clutch needs doing soon too... and i need to get the bodywork done... Somebody pass me the prozac BTW thanks for checking that Acf :-)
  17. hmmm- the guy tells me the compression should be between 150 and 190PSI. The major concern was that none of mine were around the same figure- they range from 120 to 170 so my difference is higher than stated :-( It seems to be running fine although a bit low on power and torque.... The mechanic took it for a run (hes got a corrado VR6) and said it was about right but maybe a little down.... It sometimes blows a little smoke too though.....
  18. Nah, jazz blue is a flat blue- that mk 3 looks a metallic colour
  19. Yeah that is a lovely colour- that shade blue can go horribly wrong sometimes and make a car look chav bling to the extreme. That look stonknig though..... Browsing that site i caught site of a nice grill- Hofele Edition 4 grille- i like it :-)

    No - definitely not- i used to work for a garage in the summers when i was younger. You just need a 4 post ramp, beam testers (which were never use!) and brake testers. The rest is done by checking for play, checking for rust and worn parts such as pads/discs, suspension bushes, checking seatbelts and other safety issues like jagged edges on bodywork etc... Easy really- thats how most garages get there work- Britsh Leyland/ Rover cars were always a winner cos of the welding!!!!! Never seen a mk2 needing welding..... :-)
