out with the BLUE in with the BLACK
mattverth replied to stockers's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
Our 94 Windsor blue 5 dor had a black interior - and glad it did. Still, would prefer blue to purple !ill !amazed I test drove a 97 5 door with partial black partial beige leather over here. That was pretty average too! -
You might not get a completely unbiased answer on this web site........

Thanks for the info - they do look a little too deep - is that whats wrong? How hard could it possibly be to make a textured black vacuum formed mould - I did that kind of thing in 3rd form D&T after all - all you need is the right tools. We could commission some useful parts....... You could make the mould real easy for the cubby hole - just line it and pour in the plaster/wax whatever?

I think they are bloody fantastic too...I knew of a load of roadies for a certain very famous band all got given one when vw sponsored a tour...now thats lucky!

I may have mentioned it before, but I am very keen to find a use for that well, useless cubby hole (except to store coffee stains...its very good at storing them...I 'll beat you off the lights... vrooooom...oh shit, car goes forward, coffee stays still!) in front of the gear stick. My number one vote is for a second DIN slot to accomodate a head unit CD changer, but these guys seem to supply a good alternative: http://www.tmtuning.com/main/html/main.html Its the cupholder. Guaranteed +5BHP for $19US. Bargain

BMC CDA bouncing about on bumps
mattverth replied to jezmoz's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Ive not heard about an after-market induction kit that doesn't hit some part of the engine bay that it shouldnt - my V8 Grand Cherokee one needed bending into shape to stop it banging the wheel arch. Give it a whack. Or be responsible and delicate. Your choice. -
The foot rest doesn't allow the standard fit floormats to fit in very well.

If I should Fall in Muff Again - Max Bygraves There are too many easy ways to do this on the net..and I'll find them -
Definately (See Left) Incidentally, the real deal rs4 wheels are closer to ET20, to fill the arches! So dont go getting them as 18's!

And lets face it, there is some particularly appealing shiny metal coming up in members only...going cheap......

One of the first CAR magazine reviews - I think the one after the one with the Lemon and a VW badge on the cover! - was a head to head of the VR with a contemporary BM 325 - dont know what "e" series though.

I have found that anything that is plastic and removeable - and heat proof, which lets face it it has to be - will go in the dishwasher. You can clean anything in a dishwasher! Dont put you whole ENGINE in the dishwasher - you'll break it - the engine and the appliance! I havent tried it as yet, but whenm I have a moment will take off the manifold DOHC 2.8 thingo and sling it in the washer, just to get that yellow crud off there. Not into the polished look myself.

Rust at the base of my petrol filler cap...
mattverth replied to matth76's topic in Bodywork and Styling
I recently replaced a broken plastic end cap on the side skirt. To do this I partially removed the front wheel liner and took off the old cap. Hidden in there must have been about three or four handfuls of dirt. And I live in the city. I heard a theory once that if you let the nooks and crannies fill up with dirt, leave it, it protects the metal underneath, Personally I reckon thats crap, and would encourage a weight loss program by removing handfulls of dirt! Once the rust on your job is tackled, have a look at getting it waxoyled. Have had a lot of experience of this with Stags - just get a -
I think they are the same as the TT setup - Surely Audi wouldnt make two different 312mm setups? Any updates?
-
Ive just found a bloke selling whole Audi S3 stock brakes in Aus.....Hijack..would this be the way to go?
-
After all this discussion re: 312mm brakes, i was wondering...if you got the caliper spacer kit from ecs tuning, could you just walk into your local audi stealership and buy the balance of the parts, ie: carriers, discs? Would save me some serious postage from US or UK.... With the caliper moved closer to the edge of the wheel, I could then ditch the 3mm wheel spacer and not have to roll my front arches....

Yes they do - help that is.... For my two cents, I have used the Proxes, and they have unrelenting grip...until it rains. I used them for a while and also had a friend who span his 'rado with these on a badly cambered STRAIGHT road in the wet. I now have Falken Ziex 512'S which are a fair compromise. BF Goodrich were on the Golf when we got it and they were nice and progressive.

Good plates, but don't put a black screw cap to change it, there is a real risk of it: not looking the best..... getting you onto barry boys upsetting mr plod In aus you can make up pretty much any plate you want, but pay the priviledge of 200 odd quid a year to keep it! Someone already has "VR6", and I have my mind on some others....I'll keep them under wraps until I can afford to/decide to get one My favourites in Sydney are: AROUSE YUNVME on some heap of shit!

Get a Sebring exhaust and listen to the burble reverb off walls....

Thanks had a look at that. But 149 quid? And it looks ok, but not excellent. What other size apart from 0.65 cubic feet do they do?

I bang on about JL Audio whenever the opportunity arises, so here goes... i put a Stealth box by JL in my Jeep Grand Cherokee over a year ago. It is the best solution for including a sub and keeping conveience - I can still get anything I want in the Jeep, and have started thinking about doing the same for the VR. I have just looked on JL and they dont do a Mk 3, but do have a MK4. this really is stealth, and sort of sums up their commitment to car audio! I am keen on doing a sub box and amp enclosure for the mk3 boot, but it takes serious time and commitment. All in, may custom amp rack fo
