i use wonder wheels on mine when it gets really sooty, on the gti that is, the vr has the nastiest pipes you could ever imagine! just hoping santa's gonna bring me a new jetex!

i was quoted £35, but as the housing was cracked they had to put a new one on, that was £25, still easier/cheaper than boloxing it myself! and this was a vw garage but not a dealer

regarding the window switch,somebody mentioned the other day about recoding the switch, but i can't remember if it was on here or cgti..and i can't remember how to do it, d'oh... see topic '1 touch gone' ! [ Edited Tue Dec 07 2004, 02:42PM ]

drive to garage, leave for a couple of hours,return with shopping,hand over visa/switch/cash, leave with no skinned knuckles and sheared/rounded bolts to fight with, oops! that's what i did!

**update** just got car back from having thermostat changed, also needed the housing as they said is was cracked,anyway all is well, temp gauge goes to 90 in traffic and drops slightly when moving and oil goes to 96 ... thanks to all who helped,

hmm, well mine must be well gone then, water temp guage rarely gets out of the white and oil temp doesnt go over 80, mines in today to be done, they just phoned to say the 'stat was knacked and also the housing was cracked so they couldn't guarantee it wouldn't leak, so have to wait until tomorrow to get car back.. so what are the consequenses[sp] of a dodgy thermostat ? so what are the symptoms of a dodgy thermostat ? either over heating or very solw to warm up,if it ever reaches 'running temp' anything else ?

*update....changed the sensor.....and......fk all ~ exactly the same ! so not the sensor then, all of you that said the thermostat can chuckle and say i told you so, so car is now booked in for a service + thermostat change,

posted again to make some sense ! after talking to bloke at work about this he said thermostat, so i phoned a vw garage and after explaining what happens, needle barely moves, oil gets to around 80 not especially slowly, heater works fine, he said the sender,so iwent and bought 1, will be fitting it in the morning as not to burn my fingers! and will let you know my findings, *when i mentioned the oil temp he said depends what oil you use and that the oil coolers are good on vr's [ Edited Tue Nov 23 2004, 10:24PM ]

so it might be ok, it does move just not as far as i imagined it should,what oil temp does yours run at, i'm used to a mk2 gti that sat at 96 and the temp gauge that never seemed to go above 1/2 way

nowt wrong with a blue dash !! especially if you've got a blue car..dare to be different, i actually prefer this to black,makes the interior too dark, imo [ Edited Mon Nov 22 2004, 04:14PM ]
