  1. I get 84hp more on 6 psi so I'd hope to be producing more than that on 8 psi + larger injectors. Vf-Eng quote 290 hp for their 8 psi kit (on the 2.9)which is 100 hp more.
  2. 8 psi is fine for an engine with standard compression. My 6 psi gives 80+ hp and 8 psi with injectors will give 100 hp increase.
  3. the maf is seeing too much air and it's telling the ecu to add more fuel than it should hence the stalling etc. Not sure if removing the isv is the answer either.
  4. The 12v mrkIVs came out in the US when the Golf mrk IV was launched (before the development of the 24v unit had finished). Think it was produced to satisfy the US market before they could get their hands on the 24v vr6. So they have both. I think the 24v then superceded the 12v.
  5. they produced a mark IV for the American market which was 12v, but the engine looks like a 24v- similar inlet manifold and throttle body/air filter on the right hand side of the engine bay.
  6. you have to have it to make it run properly. Should be fine if everything is well clamped and the pipe is ziptied to prevent rubbing.
  7. Why was it leaking though? Has it been rubbing? Have you got the plastic splash guard under the wing? Just have to replace the pipe.
  8. could be noisy tensioner pulley which might need re-greasing or noisy alternator/ps pump.
  9. chains are closer to the passenger side. what's the mileage?
  10. Is the flexible pipe rubber? was it leaking because of rubbing on the bodywork? Don't get the maf too close to the inlet or you'll run into problems.
  11. You buy the supercharger kit with a chip, no need for a remap.
  12. Use dot. 5.1 brake fluid, has a much higher boiling point. I use standard disks which are made of superior steel - £35 each from the stealers.
  13. might be knackered but check hoses for splits and clean it out firstly. clear codes and reset the ecu then go out for a drive and recheck using vag-com. make sure throttle angle doesn't exceed 14 degrees.
  14. yes under the rear plastic cover. Give them a good spray with carb/injector cleaner.
  15. stabiliser is correct. Its at the back of the engine bay right hand side of the TB, hidden under black plastic.
  16. Not sure what mobil 1 is suitable but I know that blue can't be mixed with red but g12+ can be mixed with both. Suppose, it doesn't matter what you use as long as you don't mix two incompatible coolants.
  17. Use g12+ which can be mixed with g11/g12 and add some water wetter for improved cooling.
  18. I've got the z-eng. kit on my corrado which produced 274 bhp on the rolling road so it does give a genuine 70-80 hp increase for £2k but its all at mid-high revs power. The z-kit is very simple to fit as there are no oil lines, the vf-kit a bit more involved but ultimately more upgradeable. Not too sure on turbos but they seem to be popular in the US but not as widely available in the UK. The supercharger kit is bolt-on (cheap and easy to fit), produces reliable power and can be removed easily which appealed to me.
