Agreed. Just had a look....... Seen kits for @ 500 squids, and 300 for professional fitting, rolling road time remap etc etc... so all in think id be looking at between maybe 800-1000... not bad for a 50bhp gain, to be used when required!

  11. once again folks - thanks again for all the advice, I really appreciate it... makes sense that when thinking about doing things like this you speak to people who have the necessary experience - so thanks. If I charge it, its gonna need to be done right, so if anything else needs done at the same time then I'll be putting the job off till I can afford to do it properly. Dont think Ill be going down the 3.0 route as any mods I do I want to be easily reversible - just so that I can take her back to standard form should I wish to do so.. but thanks for the suggestion anyways dude Marco... 12. Rigth, thinking that Im gonna keep my golf for quite some time, therefore need to think about the best ways to get more power, which is much needed! For those who dont know, I've got a '96 Golf VR6, totally std. with @45K on the clock. Im looking at the supercharger route seriously at the mo, but wonder if you could fill me in on some of the details. As Im not very handy, id be looking at paying to get the full job done, so how much is this likely to cost me? Is there anything else that should be changed at the same time? Is this a better route to go than a big turbo? Would I be as well consid
  13. Aint go thte cash right now mate, and not likely to until @ May, otherwise I would have happily have given you 150 bucks for those mate
  14. First off guys, sorry for not replying earlier - but I haven't been able to get into the site for a coupla days?... Anyways... a big thanks to 2.8VR - cheers mate, I take it you're from around that way? out west? Can you remember the name of the guy in cambuslang, can't see anything on yell?... thanks though mate, think I'll probably go down that route, get the std ones refurbed but may still but a new set as a second set Thanks for mentioning the anthracite ones available matey, but if I buy a new set of wheels they'll need to be silver - purely personal preference! But thanks all the same
  15. Hi guys, got a bit of a dilema... My standard VR rims are SERIOUSLY kerbed and messed up thanks to one previous lady owner (apologies to our lady members )... so I now have 2 options - get mine refurbished (finding this to be stupidly expensive and hard to come by in scotland) or buy a new set of alloys... Now, if I get new alloys, I want no bigger than 16" with a very slim tyre wall so as not to affect my acceleration at all. Nobody's selling a set of wheels by any chance? So what do you all reckon?
  16. cheers guys - looks like i might not need to shell out for a new one after all! thanks a mil
  17. sounds like an idea mate - but what about how the water got in there in the first place - wont it just happen/leak again?
