  2. Hi all... Been a while since I've posted on here .... sorry ! lol Wondering if anyone can shed some light on how reliable VR's with auto boxes are ? Im set to lose my license soon, and will have to therefore sell my manual VR6, but my mrs will only drive an auto - her arosa is on the way out and there is a VR6 auto nearby. Looks clean, 100k miles on it though. That mileage on the manual is fine, had a few VR6's now - but not so sure how the auto's get on ? Advice/opinions appreciated
  3. Damn that is a bit excessive! I was under the impression that no-one got done for 33 or under because they allegedly allow 10% over for inaccuracies in speedo readings? Thats a bit of a b@stard!
  4. OK guys, you've put my mind at rest a little - I had kinda thought about the above mentioned points but didnt know exactly how the vans worked (i.e. type of camera's etc.) so needed a little re-assurance! Im pretty sure there was nothig pointing out of the back of the van and it was on the other side of the road - so hopefully I'll be OK. Annoying thing is the only reason I was slightly over is because the limit on that road has only changed within the last year or so and Im so used to driving slightly quiker on it... ah well - live n learn!!! Thanks again for your help chaps.
  5. OK, so I haven't been on in a while - mainly because I dont have a VR6 any more! (she went about a month ago, missin her like crazy already ) Anyways, the question!... I want to know if any of you know the fatcs on speed camera VANS. I passed one today and I think I may have been doing very slightly over the limit - i.e. 34 in a 30 (according to speedo). Now first off, I didnt see any flashes - should I have? Do these vans actually flash when they take your photo?! Secondly, I passed it on the side of the road whereby I passed it nose to nose (if you know what I mean, I passed to fron of the
  6. Its a disgrace, we're a dying breed..... Think about it tho man, music runs in cycles, and some dance music is getting harder and trancier these days (the sh!tty chart stuff I mean) so hopefully its a sign of things to come A few years back they knocked down "The Forum" in livingston, now that plcae had some bouncin nights ill tell you! TBH though, it's still possible to have a good night of dance through at The Arches in glasgow, but just not on the same scale as before........ *drop a tab and dance the night away* lmao.......
  7. Rezzurection - now yer talkin! Seriously dood - I reckon if the rave culture came back it would do us some good - there were hardly ever any fights at raves from what I remember - just a few thousand peeps smashed outa their faces enjoying the beat! My mate was a dancer for Ultrasonic once, lucky b@stard! lol
  8. Anyone remember the old Ultrachronic days lol??? Pittuf, where you from mate?... I can see a revival of the old stuff coming mate - it's due a turn surely?! Ahhhhhh, I can still remember those endless nights at Ayr - let the party begin!!!!
  9. Think I might give it a go - hopefully if I pay cash I might get em to ignore the VAT, which would be nice.... 70 bucks for a right good coat of polish sounds ok to me.... lotta work in it....... fu(k im a lazy b@stard
  10. I would also like to know - any info would be good.....
  11. Woo hoo! some good musical taste on board! I too NEED a good dose of the old german trance, hardfloor etc. But also have loooooooads of other stuff from elvis to metallica to ACDC to Ice cube to classical to old skool - my list goes on too..... music is the essence of life..... (in your car that is )
  12. lol - maybe its a combo word for "burn" and "polish"... which means they cover yuor car with polish then burn it off with a flame thrower?.... lmao
  13. wish someone knew what it was......
  14. Hey all...... Just been on the fone to find out how much my local bodyshop would take to do a good going over my full car, basically like a paintwork valet...... They said something about "burnishing"??? What in the hell is this?!!!? Any help would be appreciated. By the way, this costs £70 + vat, whatever the hell it is! lol
  15. Cheers nick Il have a wee lock for the rivet holes tonight...... i think the arches might be murder to get a good finish on though, they're textured are they not?
  16. what does the diamond cutting process actually do? forgive my ignorance...
  17. Thanks for the offer acf, but I wouldn;t want to rip you off mate - mine's done almost 50K now
  18. lol @ olly..... wish they'd just put a belt on the f*cker...
  19. Hi all Im struggling to find a decent (& "trustworthy") bodyshop to do some paintwork on the VR. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Im not interested in a "quick job" and want a good finish, by someone who wont take my car out and rag it when im not there........ Thanks in advance
  20. The standard speakers in my VR seriously suck! Though im not sure if the rattles all come frmo the speakers or just the door pods etc.... Thinking about replacing these myself mate, but like you im not exactly "plush" at the moment! lol
  21. Or you could just rip it out and save youself some weight/money
  22. The VR6 VW Manual states that the timing chain should be "inspected" at 100K mate, but not necessarily changed. The problem tends to be with the tensioners and guides etc. anyways from what I can gather, and those will need done sooner or later - at which point your as well doing the chain anyway because it'll only cost an extra few quid.... (full job is a nightmare/box out job tho and will cost a plenty )
  23. Seriously mate? You could be right, i dunno - just sometimes when I see a GTi i think i like the look of those arches.... ach well!!! thanks for the reply matey
