[moved] VR6 Coilovers? Opinions?

I got my wheel bearing fixed today so took the baby out for a spin properly this evening, god I need to sort the suspension out, it was like driving my old rover, (well that is a bit of an exageration!) Going to go for coilovers as well, got 17's on so need that adjustability untill I can get the arches sorted. I'd heard that coilovers can be high maintenance, any one had any probs with them corroding/locking up, or do people adjust them regularly to keep them sweet? -
I'm weel up for finding out what mine can do. Didn't have the beast for the last one so missed out

When I initially looked at the car there was a connector hanging down at the front, could be the one, will have to get my back dirty and roll around on the floor at the weekend to have a look.

Cheers olly, hopefully gonna get a manual so if I can work out where bits go i'll let you know.

Bugger, I thought mine was special

Don't highlines have the 2.9 manifold and throttle body as well tho or is it just the later ones?

If you mean a link to another web site where your pictures are then just type in the full address ie http://www.XXXXX.co.uk and it should just work as a link, (it has for me in the past) To put a pic on then there used to be a button to click on to let you browse your own files and insert them, but I think pete may have stopped this due to bandwidth problems, someone will correct me if i'm wrong i'm sure. Hope this helps

My MFI doesn't show the ambient temp, it flicks straight from the oil temp to the clock. Checking out the owners manual and it says that if you have climatronic control the ambient temp will be displayed in this rather than the MFI. I can't see any climatronic stuff in the car, i'm guessing it would replace the normal blower/heater controls. Is my MFI fooked, or am I so blind i can't see the climatronic controls?

Will you be coming along to Jct29 on Sunday then? Whats happening then? Ain't been looking at the forum for abit so not really uptodate with wots going on

Thats the one jon. Quite expensive but well worth it. Heh Heh the venoms. My imediate thought was exactly the same, and me mates at work but in the cold light of day they don't actually look that bad. Sort of fill the bottom of car out, especially as it ain't been dropped (yet) But fear not I will be changing them, but not untill the tyres have run out abit. Always liked wolfrace enigma but must give it some though cos there are plenty to choose from. Finally, eh binliner!!! Any one know if there is workshop manual available, Haynes don't do one as I found out when I got the 4 cylinder one

South East seems to be popular. I live in a little village called Coggeshall about 10 miles down the road from Binliner in Colchester.

Well hello again all, its been a while. I did it today, finally got me a VR6, and pretty sweet she is to. 8o) She's a Black 97(P) Highline and is standard apart from 17" TSW Venoms, will post some pics soon. The only real problem at the mo is a rear wheel bearing but will get this fixed soon so I can give her a proper drive. !dodge

[moved] Wot wheels, not again you say!!!
Pittuf replied to Pittuf's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Cheers guys, what jobs do you have where you can look at this site in the middle of day? Lucky bastads ~ Nickbee, cheers for that m8, its good to understand these things properly. Purpline, what profile are you running on the 16s and do you have to do anything extra to ghet the wider tyres to fit? Simey, 16s have a smaller diameter than 15s eh, they must look diddy. best get the beast as low as possible to cover it up. -

ok so that bit wasn't stricktly true because there are some numbers that match there. What are the std profiles on std 15s and what are the best profiles for 16s and 17s anyone? -

My friend is adament it wont make any difference, but taking the mathematical approach I can't get any combination of tyres and wheel to make the same outer diameter so I think I almost understand it. I'm not sure about the actual profile sizes so I've done a few. 15" = 381mm + 2 x 45 = 471mm diameter 2 x 50 = 481mm diameter 2 x 55 = 491mm diameter 17" = 431.8mm + 2 x 30 = 491.8 mm diameter 2 x 35 = 5011.8mm diameter 2 x 40 = 511.8mm diameter So generally 15s with 50 profile and 17s with 40 pr -
Money well spent tho i'd guess, peace of mind and a safe car are the most important definately. Without the warranty thing the AA and RAC are pretty similar. The RAC were pretty good today tho cos they offered me the members price even tho i'm with greenflag, sweet
-
OK, I know this question has probably been asked a thousand times before, but please, humour me I have seen it quoted that putting 17s on the VR6 will impair performance, does this mean overall speed or general handling/drivability !dodge If you put larger wheels on but keep about the same overall diameter by using lower profile, how does it make a difference ?!
-
Spoke to the RAC today and they will only let me do the top check anyway due to the age of the car being borderline 7 years old. Mike, did you do the top check with 3 month warranty, if so its cone up to £324/334 non member/member.

Good point steve, i'll get on the blower to the guy and see if he's got it, i'm far to trusting you know! Been checkin out the inspections available, bloody hell, expensive. Anyone had or know anyone thats had any experiance of greenflag inspections. I am a member of greenflag so would probably get a discount. From the looks of the best RAC to the middle RAC is that they don't check so much of the interior stuff mainly door fittings and seals and interior sills for 150 quid less.
