  1. I swapped out 3 doors on my VR6, one front & 2 rear. This obviously involved taking everything off, and I didn't have any problems. By "Door trigger", do you mean the outside or inside door handle?
  2. And a Hummer H2. Ultimate in Bling.
  3. Mine steam up. Good tip there, about the Silica Gel. I'll try that.
  4. I'd have an AmD-tuned Audi RS6 and Porsche 911GT RS in there next to my Lamborghini Gallardo. Would still keep the VR though. Would have it turbo'd, NOSsed and stripped down, then use it for drag racing. Might see if DubSport could pop another VR6 engine in the back! [ Edited Fri Mar 26 2004, 12:21PM ]
  5. Many thanks to Nickbee for the info. Looks like retro-fitting a VW air-con system is cost-prohibitive though. Even if all the parts can be sourced from a scrapyard in perfect condition, all the seals need to be replaced (with special tools) and a re-gas costs £300. Aftermarket air-con systems are available for about £1200 (fitted & gassed) and use the proper VW switches etc. If there's enough people interested, I could look into a group discount perhaps. Takers?
  6. No, it's all still in the original gray plastic. Might have a go at sanding it down & colour coding it later on. Gotta be cheaper than the later-type replacement mouldings.
  7. The ECU is next to the heating/ventilation inlet, underneath the plastic cover at the rear of the engine bay that meets the windscreen. You have to take your wipers off to remove this cover. [ Edited Tue Mar 23 2004, 05:43PM ]
  8. I'm sure Vince at Stealth could supply you with a short length of Samco hose. Stealth fit CDAs all the time.
  9. Find the colour, we'll match it. She's there slapping on the Dulux right now. ROFL :-D
  10. The early S3s had 210bhp. Later ones 225bhp. Has anyone been up against one of the new 3.2 A3 Quattros?
  11. Yep, the plastic arches rivet to the arch lip. If you're removing the lip, you'll need to employ bodykit glue to fix them back on the car. Unless you want to remove them, of course. Getting the full body-colour look of the later cars means also replacing the front and rear bumpers, plus all side mouldings. For new, primered side mouldings, Euro Car parts quote £200+VAT. And that's BEFORE any respray work. I didn't even ask how much the bumpers were.
  12. Oh, the SLK 230.... I blamed my slipping clutch. It's being done at the same time as my manifold & cams. Then, vengeance will be mine...

A woman and a man get into a car accident, and it's a bad one. Both cars are totally demolished, but amazingly neither of them are hurt. After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, "You're a man, I'm a woman. Just look at our cars. There's nothing left, but both of us are unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet, get it together and live together in peace the rest of our days." The man replied, " I agree with you completely; this must be a sign from God!" The woman continued, "And look at this - here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle
  14. Yep, that's the compressor/pump, the bit attached to the front of the engine, underneath the alternator. You show the back of this in Pic 1.
  15. OK, here's what I've got so far on the routing of the aircon hoses. All we need to do is find out how the missing hose (between the drier and the bulkhead) routes through the engine bay... [ Edited Fri Mar 19 2004, 01:05PM ]
  16. >Six, do you have any trouble with the wheels rubbing the top of the arch on the driver's side rear? (near the petrol tank entrance?) I had this too after first fitting my wheels & suspension - rubbing on the offside rear wheel only. Had a 4-wheel alignment done at AmD and this sorted it out. Apparently, there's a left-right adjustment on the rear suspension beam.
  17. Evo, the only way to tell for sure is to have a diagnosis done. There are lots of things that can go wrong with the ABS as well as the sensors, although sensor faults are by far the most common.
  18. They never made the VR6 in yellow, did they? Just the GTI.
  19. If the new kit gives me the same performance as an Audi S3, I'll be well happy. Those are quick little cars.
  20. My mate beat me off the lights in his Mercedes SLK 230 a few weeks back. I will enjoy destroying him when I have my cams & Schrick manifold fitted.
  21. Agreed with eViL and sorry if I mislead. Any suspension plans should also be taken into account. I run 17s on mine with a 40mm drop front, 20mm rear and there's no rubbing. If you're considering a wild (60mm) lowering kit or coilovers, the arches may need rolling anyway. [ Edited Thu Mar 18 2004, 09:11AM ]
  22. I get a good rate from Performance Direct (uw by Highway). £610 fully comp with all mods declared. 32yo 6 years ncb 6 points Having a Thatcham-approved alarm/immobiliser (with fitters certificate) makes a MASSIVE difference. A £500 alarm system will pay for itself in less than 18 months. I'm always looking for cheaper quotes though. I don't know how P/D will respond to me fitting Cams and the Schrick Manifold. Is the telephone number for Greenlight posted on this site anywhere?
  23. I was told by my wheel supplier (a very experienced guy) that fitting 18s to a mk3 golf means rolling the arches. 17s will go straight on, as long as you get ones with the right offset. [ Edited Thu Mar 18 2004, 08:54AM ]
  24. OE Mk3 headlamps come up all the time on eBay. You should be able to get a cheap replacement there.
