Insurance On A VR6! Any Help Would Be Much Appreciated

Recommended Posts

Hi, Im currently 17 years old but by the time i buy my first vr6 i will be 18 with 1 years no claim bonus. After reading a previous thread from "golfa" who said that he got a quote for 2000 sumthing. I was hoping that anyone could give me an approximate price for insurance on a vr6 highline under my mums name and 9 years no claims and i live in a middle-risk area. id love it if i got something in the region of 2000-3000 quid. Cheers.

Im 30 mate and pay £1150 fully comp ( all mods and speeding tickets declared) but they class me as high risk because im a trader, also gave me 0 yrs ncb because i have been on trade insurance. So effectivaly i have started a new policy with 0yrs ncb but i drive approx 150,000 miles a year and never had a claim, Its hard to work out a quotation for you when they all seeem to charge different rates

Is your mum already using her NCB on another policy? Cos you wanna be careful with that, as most insurers won't accept NCB which is already in use for a seperate vehicle. Also, you could try 'Directline' i think it is, who will allow you to build up your own NCB even as a named driver. May not be cheapest quote, but in the long-term it is best to start earning your own NCB.

If any of this doesn't make sense, or if you have any other questions just gimme a shout mate.

Hi Mate,

For some reason insurance companies really dont like VR6's and young drivers! I brought mine and got insurance when i was 19 (Under my dads name!) and it was £2500 pa from CIS, who may i add, are tossers.

I am now with Admiral for £1300 pa which is not bad i dont think.

I would try HIC,ADRMIRAL, and ADRIAN FLUX mate. Try to add older drivers to the policy if you can, and make sure you have a CAT1 alarm and keep it in a garage if poss as this does help.

You need any more info give me a shout!

Good luck mate

Matt
