vr6turbo 27 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Share Posted May 19, 2006 want to share your thoughts on a vr with a supercharger and turbo +o( to run sequentiallyi heard vw are going to do this with the new golfsthe supercharger would handle the lower boost range and the turbo can take over at high boost levelsgetting it seamless would be a taskany one seen this done on other cars?what a project to get your teeth intoits a bit of a dream but would be unique if someone could do it Link to post Share on other sites

FishWick 21 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Share Posted May 19, 2006 VW have already launched the Golf with the 1.4 "twin charge" engine. It's quite a nice unit by all accounts. It's primary objective was to get the same output as a decent 2.0, but from a much smaller, lighter unit, therefore saving fuel......but....I bet it can be boosted up :-)You'd be better off with one small turbo and a larger one to be honest.Until proper electric superchargers are invented, it will be difficult to implement on a VR!I think it was the Lancia Delta S4 that first did super and turbo charging, but the engine never made it into their road going Deltas as it was too hardcore and aggressive!
