want to share your thoughts on a vr with a supercharger and turbo +o(

to run sequentially

i heard vw are going to do this with the new golfs

the supercharger would handle the lower boost range and the turbo can take over at high boost levels

getting it seamless would be a task

any one seen this done on other cars?

its a bit of a dream but would be unique if someone could do it

think lancia did this with rally prototypes,as you say hard to get setup.

VW have already launched the Golf with the 1.4 "twin charge" engine. It's quite a nice unit by all accounts. It's primary objective was to get the same output as a decent 2.0, but from a much smaller, lighter unit, therefore saving fuel......but....I bet it can be boosted up :-)

You'd be better off with one small turbo and a larger one to be honest.

Until proper electric superchargers are invented, it will be difficult to implement on a VR!

I think it was the Lancia Delta S4 that first did super and turbo charging, but the engine never made it into their road going Deltas as it was too hardcore and aggressive!

I've seen a MK2 16V with two G-laders aswell!

I think assymetric bi-turbo is the way to go.

AW Tracksport have done a 1.8T in a mk2 golf, with both a supercharger and a turbo, might be the one Justin is thinking of.
