yeeha 0
Ok peeps, this is a strange one...When I brake, the car seems to pull slightly to the left - but when accelerating under full throttle and the revs really kick in, the car seems to pull off to the right a bit.... I dont get it!any ideas as to why this may be happening would would be appreciated.
Macca 1
Different tyres? The one with better grip will pull you back on that side more(ie left) when you brake, and push you the other way more (ie right ) when you accelerate.Just an idea
acf8181 0
yep, agree with Macca. i had this at one point, the vr6 really needs matched tyres cause it has a fair amount of performance. i've used different tyres on each side on lower powered cars before and its not been am issue...but the vr pushes the tyres hard. yeeha 0
hmmmm..... thanks for the replies guys. When I have a bit more cash to throw around I'll get the same all round, or at least on the front - kinda on a tight budget just now Appreciate the response
FishWick 21
Try replacing the hub ball joints. They wear out and the slack doesn't always show up with the usual crow bar levering methods. Either that or you have worn Track rod ends or heaven forbid the rack. Different brands of tyres on the same axle won't cause that sort of torque wander in the dry. You have mechanical wear somewhere.

You have mechanical wear somewhere.yes it will' date=' i had opposite tyres on each side of mine and it did. not saying you're wrong kev, but would be better to eliminate this first, always a bad idea mixing tyres on a performance car.had avon on one side and pirelli i think on the other.but just out of curiousity which tyres have you got on each side yeeha? and what do you have on the rear (are they the same, cause you could switch the back wheels onto the front which will make it a bit better)?[ Edited Fri May 28 2004, 08:34PM ']
FishWick 21
Never experienced that on mine with odd brands, but like you say, it can't be outruled.
jcorallo 0
its your front control arm bushes - the large circular horizontal ones at the back of the control arm.when they wear/split, the whole wheel can move back and forth in the arch quite a bit.Problem solved.Jules[ Edited Fri May 28 2004, 09:49PM ]
kilokilla 0
just thought id add my tuppence worth ive known worn engine mounts and knackered diffs to also cause this kind ov problem.

VRmonster 1
well i have a federal 595 on the offside front, and a shitty unnamed tyre on the nearside, and my car pulls in the same mannor. i expected it to be the tyres as it was fine beforehand, although my tracking/camber is out also, so cant guarantee this is the problem. but it looks likely
FishWick 21
Vince put some Vibratechnics rear wishbone bushes in mine and they are absolute top quality! The road wheels don't push back into the arches anywhere near as much as before under heavy braking, and the general feel and responsiveness is drastically improved. Turn-in is razor sharp. yeeha 0
Hmmm... mixed responses! Thanks people. I think the best Idea would probably be to swap the two back ones to the front (cheers acf ) and see what happens there first, just out of curiosity. The back tyres are a wee bit kack i think but at least they're the same. On the front at the moment I have a Dunlop Sport 2000 and some other sh!tty one, cant remember what it is tho... Hope it's nothing too serious Thanks again to all who replied
