car had been losing a fair bit of water losing even more now.

seems to be coming from a coolent hose on the right had side of the block.

also does not lose anything if im driving about but if i stop and sit it drips away.

weird aswell is that when i take the cap of the tank which appeared empty fills up again is this an air lock???

should i just bite the bullet buy a new samco ones and a new thermostat hosing and stat or try and fix it?? would prefer just to fix it but if it's going to happen again and again now with the standrad hoses il uprate them!!

are you opening bottle cap when water is hot if so it will do as you have described putting samco hoses on will just mean you have stronger hoses it wont make any other difference so i would just repair the leak and then as long as there is nothing else wrong it should be fine mate.

Any photos Ciaran? Reason: It maybe leaking from the auxiliary water pump bottom hose, which on mine turned out to be the Impellor housing had split and eventually blew off causing a severe leak..Its worth looking around that area as it harbours a lot of leak opportunities when I fixed the pump I found that the Thermostat housing had a small split on it as well .. more like chasing my tail to cure the leak..

well cant get any pics at the min offshore till tue.

but if u stand looking at the block it leaks tightto the block on one of the hoses. is the water pump not on the left hand side though???

also how hard is it to empty the whole system as then i would just take off each hose and check each one.

what colour anti-freeze should i use?? pink stuff ok??

also where do i bleed the system once iv refilled it??

kilokilla yes opening the cap when it's warm why does that happen???

Correct me if i am wrong but, i didnt bleed mine at all. Had the top radiator hose off and filled till it started comin out then quickly connected it. then filled again till expansion tank was maxed. ran it with cap off and watched it come through the side of the expansion tank and kept checking the level. waited till the stat opened, then put the cap on and take it sit and watch for a few mins while the system pressurises and you run around nervously checking for leaks, then take it for a gentle run around the block. let it cool for a bit and then check the level again and check for leaks again. dada!!!! all done! took me 2 1/2 hours to change the thermostat housing last week. I put blue antifreeze in mine but i am told its a no no, and i should have gone pink!
