vr6 g3 0
I'm on my third vr and the first two vr's their temp gauge always moved between 70 and 90 degress depending on the weather, but this one i've just bought gets warm pretty quick and sits at 90 and doent budge at all, It cant be anything serious cos the car has only done 24000 miles, i was thinking the others may have had a lower temp thermostat ?? so i might replace this one with one these neuspeed ones How do yours read ?? shail 0
Bang on vertical (90 degrees?) once warmed up, and it doesnt budge. Its never been over this in the 3 years ive owned it.
Seademon 0
Mine never goes further than half way - not even when I drove to Germany ie: flat out for ages in temps of 100f +
mightyvr6 0
Have you done a coolant flush and removed all the crap out of the radiator? You might want to invest in an oil cooler but 90 isn't all that high to be honest. Get some water wetter in there too - v good stuff.Does anyone know what temp the standard and neuspeed thermostats opens at?

mightyvr6 0
Maybe change the sender, just to check if it's the guage that is at fault.

fabio_vr6 0
i find the early mk3s pre 95 show a "true" temp as in move between 70 and 90 depending on weather and how fast your going etc and the later ones show 90 and stay there proved this by putting a later set of clocks on my early car and it went to 90 and didnt move after that early set showed the true reading
mightyvr6 0
You might be right there Fabio. My Bora, once warmed up never shifts from 90 deg. on the guage even in traffic whilst my vr guage moves around a bit depending on weather and if the car is moving or at a standstill. matth76 1
If you are referring to the oil temp (seen via the trip computer) then 90 degrees C is the normal operating temp and will always sit at that. Nothing to worry about. If on the other hand you are referring to the water temp which is seen via the gauge near the revometer then the needle should normally sit vertically when it is at normal operating temp. purple highline monster 0
my temp sits at 70 most of the time when on the move or stationary, once you get stuck in a bit of traffic or if the weather is really hot (yeah right!) it goes upto 90 sometimes, then the big fans cut in and temp goes down again to between 70-80, jesus those twin fans on full chat are loud! TVR6 0
Mine's and ODB2 (97) sits vertical also but does move up the scale progressively. The thermostat failed once and the tempertaure gradually rose to the top, so it would appear to be an 'actual reading'?
fabio_vr6 0
it only moves when it gets over a certin heat, under the normal temp it wont show anything other than 90. they done it to stop people bringing cars back cus people thought if the needle moved that there was a problem!
