Basically my drivers side rear electric window doesn't work, all the other windows work fine but this one doesn't, both the button on the dash and the one in the rear don't do anything, no motor noise or anything.

Any ideas what it could be? i'm thinking loose wire, relay or motor, are any of these common failures on VWs? I'll probably get my door card off tomorrow to have a ganders as i have the afternoon free but i just thought i'd see what you experienced VW guys think before ;)

Cheers :)

Hey there Col...

Do a search - theres been a few of these before...

Check the wiring loom between the body and the door... Sometimes the connectors become corroded or wires break down.

My nsf window used to play up and I found a crushed wire near the door switch... Have you took any switches out or the door panel etc...?

Maybe check the switches for power with a multimeter thingy.

Maybe try swapping the switch with a near side one if possible?

I suppose maybe try the rear winder on the front (I suppose its a lot of work though!!

Hope these help...

I also learnt that VW black glue stuff that holds the foam door liner thing is the most annoying substance known to mankind :P

ok, i tried to fix it but just ended up throwing the soldering iron on the floor because it didn't get up to temperature and generally got hacked off !grr Tomorrow i'm off going to get some mechanical connectors !lol

Oh and some of you sharper observers will notice that it's my passenger side rear door :P i forgot which one it was when i started the thread ;)

If you were to bare the wires back open them up ind interlink the cables while twisting them and then seal it with solder then wrap in insulation tape it will give you a much better conection than conectors.

yeah that was what i was trying to do but the soldering iron wouldn't get hot enough, i'll try soldering again tomorrow, if the iron doesn't get hot enough i may get a new one that actually does :)
