Why does nothing go right with me and cars?

Recommended Posts

Well, I had a service on Friday and it showed up that my n/s rear damper is leaking, and guess what, my lovely flkonigsports are 1 year and 2 months old, so i'm guessing are gonna be about 2 months outside of the warranty.

Couple that with the nice Hella Celis headlights I bought on ebay tuning up on Thursday, broken (not just one of them either both of them!!).

My other headlights I bought recently, one of them was broken.

The exhaust had to be "modified" to get it to fit....ie not straightforward and easy.

My alarm turned uo broken when that was fitted.

I've had wheel bearings go, seems like every week.

And i've also got a nice clunk when I turn my steering wheel.

I don't know what it is....I just seem to get every bit of bad luck going when it comes to cars, it was the same with my old fiesta.

Rant over.

you are not alone mate!!! my vr6 i have only had a month or so has had simmilar teething problems!!! i paid a fortune for an aircon pipe got it all recharged and bang the condensor went!!! abs sensors were all fine, took it for mot it passed and guess what? the near side rear abs sensor is now faulty! my last car had similar "gremlins" new set of rallye headlamps 3 days old, bang stone straight through one of them! that was cheap!! i dont think you can avoid it, i got into a brand new skoda vrs the other day at work and the passenger side footwell was full of water!!! the header bottle was fine!!! dunno what that was! but its still leaking now probably aircon pipe or something, dont fret minor niggles and dissapointments what motoring is all about, shame about those headlamps are they gonna send more? the steering could be the rack a bush or cv joint get it checked out though!

Glad (not really, but you know what I mean) i'm not the only one. I know Minty seems to have had lots of problems with thing breaking and the like, just gets to you sometimes.

The guy on ebay has been really good about the headlights, sent new ones out the next day so they should be turning up today sometime, plus he will refund me the cost of sending the other back, so can't complain too much.

The clunk is being checked out on Monday next week. They took a quick look on Friday but need more time. It has been doing it for a while just never got round to getting it looked at.

at one time or another all my vw`s have irritated me with minor problems! but all the problems have been relatively minor! i remember the first major one when i was on my way back from a blat to broadstairs in my lhasa green mk1, just as i got to the long reach roundabout and went wanging past an audi a4 (old shape!) & the gearbox went!!!! stuck in 3rd gear for 20 odd miles! not good fuel economy and had to "time" a few junctions :o !

That they are Mark!!!

One of my funniest breakages was in an old mk4 escourt I had.

Went over a bridge in my little village too quickly and the exhaust snapped off and the throtle cable got locked on fully open. Thankfully I wasn't far from my house, but it sounded like a tank and every time the clutch went down it reved the tits off it. :P

its not just me then. had my vr 3 months and in that short time i have had a water leak , gear box gone wheel bearing gone , drive shaft , engine mount, and to top it off bent 5 valves and snapped 1 that then smashed a piston and stuck the valve in the head along side a spark plug. now i have changed the engine it has this bad missfire that i cant seem 2 sort out

try and beat this...

timing chains,clutch,all 4 wheel bearings,rear disks and pads,1 inner and 1 outercv,radiator,thermostat and thermostat housing,air con regased,tie rod and end,top mounts,front anti roll bars,4 shocks,stub axle hub,rocker cover gasket,rear bump stops,radiator fan switch,ht leads,gear box mount!

most parts were fitted because they failed or starting to fail, all done in approx of the first 11months of buying the car so you aint on your own m8.and the car only done 75.000 miles!

vw isnt as reliable as i though? considering the cars are coming up on 10 years old (mine is anyways) it's in good condition (touch wood) and will continue to give me happy motoring miles into the 100k's.

they are super reliable compared to some of the shite you can buy!! my highline still had its factory original fit (no cuts in the pipe full system) exhaust till i changed it a few weeks ago! and its done 84k! not many motors will give that length of service on a part like that, no one has made a cheap car to run yet!!!! most stuff you replace is either coz you want too :D or you break it :( or it just comes to the end of its life, most GENUINE vw components give good service though i have found and i would certainly pay the extra they charge on most things as i now the quality is good, GSF and ECP are ok for some things but you know a lot of it is complete shite that only lasts 1/2 the time, if all the parts on my car have lasted till now as they have then original will always be my first choice even down to the exhaust rubbers!

f*ckinghell guys your all starting to scare me!! Luckily never had many problems with my VR's - had a few things that needed sorting on this one though- tensioner bolt was knackered, (luckily not the chains!) rear diff had a few drops of oil in it (i was lucky apparently! lol) and theres a rather disheartening knocking coming from the suspension/ steering- its getting worse- its gone in twice already- still not sorted- i dont like the sound of sub frame bushes though minty!!!! :-| Im hoping its a wishbone bush or top mount.... the mystery continues... They aint bombproof like the old mk2 - my old valver used to take such a kicking- but im sure we'd rather drive our german stylin VR's than a Jap crazy frog machine.. :-D

he he, i got two new genuine rear wheel bearings sitting in my garage!! waiting for the "change me" humm :P , got some genuine discs and pads for all round too !shy always keep a few spares lurking around! i have only just managed to empty my garage of all the mk1 stuff i accumulated over the years :o "just in case" wings, wheels, trim, etc etc, still got a few boxes of gear to sort through, never had any problems with the mk2 rallye though, that was bullet proof i am sure, i think the mk2 is probably the best engineered golf i have had.

Rich, the mirror inside was broken in the outside bottom corners, one side had just cracked and the other side had broken completely and a the bit was floating around the front cavity.

Got my new yesterday and thankfully they were both fine. Got to hand it to the guy I bought them from...top class aftersales service.
