Jakeyb 23
Well here is my black VR mk3 that i bought the other day.. was advertised for a grand n i spoke to the ladselling it n he told meit needed a little "TLC" .. after 10 years of spinning spanners i still dont learn n thought id have a look .. agreed a price n fetched it .. on the way backi soon realised the temp guage didnt rise above 70 ... plus a blow out on one ofhis "sick new tyres" was fun in the dark with the missus aswell... then came the siezed caliper .. the coolant leak ... n on n on n on ... so i thought f*ckit i havent the time to fix it as i gave my unit up n didnt think it needed that much.. but my mate said i can stick it in his unit n save her SO ...Oh n the gearbox that just wanted a top up of oil " that crunches into 2nd " lol .. so the old girl wants a box aswell... as i havent got the time to stripit down n replace the warn syncro .. but ive started today n found so many more bodges .. brakes .. n general sh*t mechanics.... makeyou ask yourself why people dont just do a job once n do it properly.. but hey ho least shell be a good un for a bit ... its took a bit of a bad one on the sill where some1 jacked it up poorly but that gonna go on the list... if she stays long enough i might take it with me when i move house n stick it in the garage n strap a blower to it ... ( maybe) Here is todays odds n sods .. ill take some more tomorrow as you can see an interesting day... after i discoverd that cv's bootswere split n clips broke n ball joints were siezed n all sorts i thought id jsut bite the bullet so ive ordered about 200 quids worth of bits including a second hand box that has aaperntlydone "88k" .. more like 188k but ill change the oil n hope for the best .. sometimes i wish i wasnt a mechanic n i jsut stuck my car in a garage n dealt with the bills ... but i guess no point in having a skill so to speak n not using it ... Reaperx 181
I know the feeling I'm a mechanic myself but jut think of the money you will save. Plus you know that the job is done right if you do it yourself.

Those brakes look shocking, the previous owner must thought having working brakes is over rated! Good luck getting it all sorted, hopefully there isn't too many expensive shockers in store

Jakeyb 23
little update tried a new pump today for the sake of £20 n 45 mins work .. didnt fix it but helped me eliminate it and good for piece of mind .. plus got rid of the red nasty red painted bits ... Therusterman 59
What were you trying to fix by putting a new water pump in?
Jakeyb 23
the flow of water looked interrupted and looked like it had got small bubbles of air .. i had also heard that the water pumps have plastic impellers so to squash the theory that it was cooling enough for a short while but the impeller had sheared off ... i removed it .. whilst it was off as i ddint know the millage i replaced it ... as a precaution and for future smooth running.... I fixed the problem anyways now .. it was the NEW thermostat that i had fitted only days ago ... i replaced it with a Genuine item at a cost of £26 and and problem solved... also changed the matrix but will have to have the dash out again in the week to re cover the heater flaps as there in a bad way but was cold n wet i didn't have time to f*ck about today my Fcm was bad as well ... look at the state of it ... considering its got a weather proof seal on it ... it was TOAST VR6Pete
Therusterman 59
Ah yes, that makes sense. Pays to use genuine parts sometimes! Don't envy you one bit pulling the dash in this weather.
