Someone did say on that thread it was topping out at 120 mph but how often are you really going to be doing more then that. It also said if you add the 5th gear from diesel to make it better for motorways

MK4 would have a 195 65 15 tyre, compared to a 205 50 15 for a MK3 / Corrado, so driving a MK4 wont give same revs at the given speed as your own car. V5 box is well rated by some track day folk.

I have an EJS box, 10V V5 with no shift tower for £30

Had a quick play in a v5 earlier the action through the box is so much better gives you a much more precise feel

That's down to the later 02j tower / shifter, which can be retro fitted to an 02A using polo shift housing parts

This is all taken into account on the graph, it shows a vr6 gearbox in a vr6 golf with stock vr6 wheels/tyres. The only thing that is different is the V5 3.94 final drive ratio

How does the wheel diameter of a 17" wheel change the speed, if the over all diameter is the same as a 15" wheel

205 40 17 = 23

205 50 15 = 23

I think the comment from earlier was why does a V5 Mk4 not feel undergeared and Dox's was pointing out that the overall diameter between a Mk4 Golf and a Mk3 is different i.e. Mk4 had bigger rolling diameter tyres.  205/40/17 for Mk3 225/45/17 for a Mk4.
