Cold Air = More Power?

Recommended Posts

When I met up with ThermalIP4, we did some data logging on my car. One of the settings we monitored, was the MAF, specifically air temperature and volume of air moved.

First thing was that my MAF maxed out at literally just under 60 gallons (?) litres (?) of air per minute, and it was decided that the MAF couldn't keep up with the volume required. What have others found? What would a GOOD MAF register?

Secondly and more interestingly, was the air temperature, we started with something like 56 Celsius initially it went up, then it went down and down, I think we had it down as far as 34 Celsius, it could have been more, I was busy driving, so couldn't see!! Now ThermalIP4 said that the air temp going through my MAF was some 30 - 40 Celsius COLDER than his readings on his car!!? When I was discussing this with a mechanic friend, he said that you didn't want the air TOO cold as this could cause different problem s.

My question with regards the temperature is, What would be considered TOO cold? and has anyone else done this and what figures did you get? Finally how MUCH of a difference does it make in the REAL world?

Over to all you tuning bofs!!!!!!
