ian_GTI 0
If you get any problems mate let me know and I'll talk you through itI did mine in a day pretty muchAlso it's much easier just to swap the engine and subframe all in 1 go then you can use all the vr hubs brakes etcHave a look in my build thread mate I took a few pics when i did mine
lumoxs 0
how did you find the wiring side of it all mate??as for droppin out the sub frame, you just lift the car up with the engine hoist?! it looks a fiarly simple job if you do it the sub frame way! ian_GTI 0
I'm a auto sparky so it was pretty simple lol Do you have a complete vr donor carI just swapped the complete loom over but I had to mod the headlight loom and washer bottle plugTo do the subframe swap disconnect the front end (rad front panel etc) and remove it allThe disconnect the exhaust, water pipes to heater matrix, gear linkage etc Disconnect the front brake lines and top mountsThe the steering rack u joint to the steering columnThen hook your engine crane up to the engine remove the front cross member (4 bolts, 2 eaither side at the front)Then the 8 bolts that hold the main subframe on (under the car) That's it took me just over a hour and a half This way you don't have to play with the drive shafts etcYou will also need to swap the gear linkage as the vr is cable and the 1.6 is rods (just swap the hole lot 3 bolts job done)You can make the rears 5 stud by just swapping the disks overYou will also need to mod the radiator panel to fit the vr6 oneGood luck mate
Ian_rogers 0
Vento front end???Would have been better off gettin the older model for that wouldn't u? Or am I talkin poop? LolLooking forward to seein the progress on this!
ian_GTI 0
Wow for once your right Rodgers I missed that in first post Vento front will need to change a front panel etc as wellAlso you will loose your Line to tie the rear bumper inVento fronts normally work better on the mk3s But I would like to be proved wrong lol

J5KE F 0
Lovely project ahead dude!!Keep us updated please!?!One small thing as was mentioned.. U have a mk4 front end and could probably sell that to a mk3 bod on hear easily enough, but why go to vento when with the mk4 front setup you could look at a bora...? ian_GTI 0
If you get any problems mate just drop me a pm and I'll take you through it
ian_GTI 0
Don't think a bora would work as the front end is a mix of mk3 and mk4 partsBonnet: is mk3 but with washer jets removed and differnt cut outs for mk4 headlightsWings: mk3 with mk4 headlight cut outs and longer on the bottom than a standard mk3 wingBumper: looks like a mk4 but different dimensionsSo bora wont be a stright swapThe only thing that will swap stright onto a mk4 is the headlights everything else is differnt
J5KE F 0
Aaah, shame!Still mk4 front end is still a sought after upgrade for the mk3..!
Ben Seabrook 4
nice project mate as said above vento front end will need the rear bumper changing as well in order to look right and as for the bora would look awesome but lots of work although anything is possible http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3798825
