VeedubVR 0
My mk3 is loud, both inside and out and its doing my head in on long journeys. I was thinking when the carpets are out getting cleaned, what about sound deading the floor? reckon that will take some of the noise out of the cabin?
Ben Seabrook 4
yeah there should be some in there but removing the old and adding some more modern stuff with better sound deadening properties would help mate have you still got the under bonnet sound proofing ? VR6Nat 9
have you still got the under bonnet sound proofing? that makes a difference and most people remove it, but adding more inside will also help.
VR6Nat 9
also have you checked behind the door cards to see if it has any as they arent normally that loud.... you can always upgrade what it has inside there if its already there to improve it.
gary.scales 0
along the same lines, I took my door card off to get to the wiring and had to remove the foam which I didnt put back on very well, and now get wind coming through the door opener, can you buy replacements does anyone know? VR6Pete 1,455
are you referring to road noise or the noise of engine / exhaust?
gary.scales 0
noise of the exhaust really, dont want any overly loud roaring!! Am going to settle for the Jetex in mild stell, cheap and if too loud, will not have wasted too much money. If it is too loud, will save for VW OEM
VR6Nat 9
check out this site... http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/48_215_221/spd/sound-deadning.html you can just cut it to the shape you want and its self adhesive so easy to fit

gary.scales 0
sorry admin, ignore my update on exhaust, remove if you like, was thinking of the wrong post!! Sorry!
gavinvr6 0
just to add my 2 cents worth, as most of the noise will be coming from the rear of the car a roll of self adhesive roofing bitumen does a great job and it's cheap, its about 1mx5m for about 20 quid, if your removing the carpets also remove the boot carpets and panels and stick a couple of layers on everything, for 20 quid you can completely cover the boot in 2 layers and with the carpets out you could get a second roll and double up on the floor pan and door outer panels
VeedubVR 0
Mines exhaust noise! I love the sound of it but its just too loud inside. I took the underbonnet stuff out. Was reading it and it mentioned that it keeps under bonnet temps really hot. So if I just get something lile dnyamat and just cover the floor in it?
CALICO 130
i'd start with the boot floor as thats where most of the exhaust noise will be coming from try to do the inside of the rear wings as well as that will help stop resonance better for the stereo system if you have one as well
CALICO 130
a proper job done with dynamat
