Timah89 1
Looking at spraying up grey engine cover, what is the best way to go about this and what paint?
VR6Nat 9
well i did mine... i sanded it down a bit so its still a bit textured but not so rough, then used plastic primer from halfords, did a couple of layers on that and sanded down, then sprayed with a halford rattle can, cant remember what colour mine is now... did 2 or 3 coats of that... job done... easy as.. just give each layer time to dry.... VR6Nat 9
here it is... its more gun metal grey but that pic came out weird cuz of the sun... havent got any better pics at the mo
Timah89 1
was hoping it would be nice and easy, quick trip to Halfords after work it is then! got the cover off at the moment and it looks pretty mint as i painted all the rocker cover up black when i polished the manifold up. You find any problems with the finish??
VR6Nat 9
na not really... seems to be cool... its a kinda matt finish with a slight texture still but thats how i wanted it... been done well over a year now and not had a problem... but havent looked at it all winter!! haha. might have a look tonight and take some more pics. you could sand it down totally flush and smooth then paint it gloss, depends on how you want it to look... VeedubVR 0
How does the cover come off?
Timah89 1
liking the matt black finish. Def the the colour of choice for me now. Veedubvr there are 4 star shaped screws. 2 under the ht leads on the black panel and then another 2 under that. Really obvious when you have a look and super easy to remove

Dragon Dave 1
I'm thinking about painting my engine cover. I don't know what colour to do it. I think I like the Matt Black but Gun Metal Grey looks good, I was thinking about Dragon Green (car colour) but I don't think it would look as good as black or grey.It would be good to see more pictures of painted covers.
