I asked AMD for a quote for a re-chip, and new suspension.

They quoted me £350+VAT for the re-chip.

£379+VAT for Koni dampers

£135+VAT for Eibach or H&R springs

and £240+VAT to fit them and do the wheel alignment.

Seems a lot to me.

I've heard AMD are pretty good(any opinions?) and I've no problem paying them to do the work.

I'm not too keen if the parts are over-priced though....

Has anyone else paid for a re-chip recently, and for koni dampers with H&R springs?

How much did you pay ?

Cheers.

AMD have a bit of a reputation for overstating performance gains from their chips, and apparently have a very optimistic rolling road.

I got quoted about half that amount for a chip from Star Performance up in Scotland, I'd imagine the power gains would be very similar.

You're looking at £603.95 for your suspension, you can get a set of HK Konigsport coilovers for that money. Any competant garage would be able to fit them in no more than 2 hours. My local tyre garage does laser wheel alignment for £25 inc VAT.

I think you can get a lot more for your money by shopping around.

you can get the springs from Venom for about £115. What you should do is get quote from Venom then ring Motorsport and tell them what price Venom are doing them for and they should beat the price by about £5 .its not lot, but it's an extra fiver of juice.

Well thats what i did

Pete -I fully intend to call Stealth.

Crazy busy in the run up to christmas though so only managed to fire off an email to AMD.

Don't think Stealth have that capability do they?

Sankys - heh heh, nice one. I must just do that!

Slim - I thought it was quite a lot ...

Star Performance you say? Would that entail a drive to Scotland though ?

Andy - cheers for the tip. I'll have a look on motorsportworld today.
