j7dub 0
I KNOW THERES LOADS OF THREADS ON HERE ABOUT THIS..BUT TO CLARIFY IT IM PRESUMING ITS BEST TO GO FOR THE RED COLOURED LEADS FROM A VW DEALER just rung for price, leads are sold individually £20 each roughly, mines an early 92 vr6 so il need 7?? thats £140 bloody hell... OR CAN THESE BE BOUGHT ELSEWHERE CHEAPER ie: G&S,ECP.. and are they the same quality..also need dizzy cap and rotor arm etc im presuming these can be bought from g&s as the qulaity wont be different
bazz780 0
the leads from euro are probably 70 all in but are rubbish, mine ripped as i tried to fit them in tightly as the pin part is not long enough
acf8181 0
i think that prob is the across the board price, but vw dealerships do vary in price sometimes (call one up north...they're usually cheaper!)i don't think you can get them elsewhere.mine cost about £110 for 6 leads. Heardy 0
I've just fitted some new leads and they are exactly the same as the original's (which are also made by Bremi ) They fit in the guides perfect and they are even numbered the same as the originals. Heardy 0
i got black ones from euro car parts verdict= shite!!!What make were they ?
bazz780 0
put it this way, cant rem the make but they have short rubber topped sockets that go over the leads instead of the long metal one that comes on the red ones,
vr6freak 3
Don'tr buy g&s leads unless you see them first. sometimes they stock the beru ones but mostly bbt . I know these are shit because I am forever replacing them. ( that is the BBt ones may I add. )
badboyV6 4
Ive just bought some replacement leads for my (newly acquired) VR6 - I bought them from G&S, these were made by Hansa- seem fine so far (Famous last words ;-)) I bought these as when i went to change the plugs, the shite that was on there decided to fall apart in my hands as i was taking them off- really poor quality whatever they were- all i can tell you is they were black!! To be fair if you can afford the red leads are top notch quality, just a shame i couldnt source them elsewhere cheaper...
Slim 0
What did the red ones come on as a standard part? I've got black ones on my Highline but I want the red ones.
VRVIRGIN 0
Okay, this is driving me mad. Now I think according to the most experienced among us,the red leads are the best ones to for. But are they made by BERU, or BREMI. Most VR's i've seen had black leads. Managed to get part numbers from the Beru site, but can't seem to find any info on Bremi. Anyone able to clear this up? Hope evryone had a good Christmas by the way.
bazz780 0
go for the red ones i say, look better too

badboyV6 4
I did say that i got my leads from G&S, but in fact they were from Euro Car Parts- they are made by Hansa and are black. £52 + VAT - worked with no problems. Ive spent quite a lot recently so couldnt afford the nice red VW ones. Buying leads from Euro Car Parts is the automotive equivalent of buying from Lidls :-)
VRVIRGIN 0
Bought mine from Volkspares down what was my neck of the woods. 40 quid all in, they're crap, but they have lasted about 6k b4 starting to give up. So not too bad of a quick patch up. Will see what VW have to say.
Guest fredt1
I get my leads from GS&F so far they have lasted 15k and show no signs of deterioration, the ignition system on my car has to be in good condition or the LPG system plays up!
mightyvr6 0
The red ones are beru afaik. How about magnecors or blue igniters for about £80? These are v. good leads.
binliner 0
yes the red ones are beru... thats what came on my car but I don't know why the red VW ones are supposedly better than the black... anyone any ideas?
Slim 0
Better end connectors I think. I'm able to get them dirt cheap from the local dealer but he either needs part numbers or needs to know what car thay came on as standard. Anyone able to help?
