Thought it was about time I did a write up of my car from when I bought it about 5yrs ago. So here goes, and I will have to add to this as I remember things and also reorder things if I have em the wrong way round.

I had joined up to this forum a few weeks before I bought my car in February 2005. It came with a magnex cat back exhaust and 17" alloys and a air filter of some description. The car is painted in black magic pearl (LC9Z) and had Recaro interior, climatronic aircon, and all the usual stuff ie windows and sunroof. I paid the princely sum of £4250 for it, was cheaper than I would of paid at the time so a bonus.

I then decided to change things, there were many GBs on this forum back then that got me buying stuff and one of the first was for Samco hoses. So they were ordered and put on the car straight away and what a difference they looked in the bay. I also boughbt a BMC CDA on here as well.

Plus i got a polish inlet manifold from Pureklass but for some reason I picked it up from Leeds festival when they are only in Coventry, oh well!!!

I also got a Miltek cat back exhaust in a GB on here, that sat for quite a while before going on, about 18months!!!!!

As you know the VR6s are like 4x4s as standard, so on order within 6 months or so of owning the car were a set of KONI coilovers. should of all been stainless bodies but only the fronts were and I didnt wanna wait so they went on.

And on the car with the 17s on...... :)

I left it like that except for putting some headlights on to it which you can see on one of the pics above.

Then on 11 Aug 2005 something bad happened.......I had a crash!!!!!

Behind a woman in a BMW 3 series, she went to go at an island then stopped on the island......I didnt see that and rear ended her. The pics will do the rest of the talking...

But the car came back, maybe not better but as good as all it needed was a new wing, bonnet, slam panel and headlights. I got the slam panel on good old ebay for 99p, bought a carbon fibre bonnet for about £180ish, I got a painted wing from a place online that does bodyparts to whatever colour you need and luckily still had my standard headlights.

It then stayed that way for a bit, but was searching for wheels. Was wanting 9s all round as was a sheep then and everyone was doing 9s. Plumpled for Borbet T 9x16s ET15 all round. Proper wide I tell thee. These I bought after christmas 2005, they arrived mid january and just had to try them on, but as there arches needed rolling they couldnt stay on. Shame they looked proper phat!!!!

So I had to wait till March to be able to afford to get down to the Phirm to get arches rolled and wheel put on. Fantastic wheel with great grip due to the width of the Falken ZE512s, these were gonna be summer/show wheels and keep 17s as a daily.

Still having some money burning a hole in my pocket I saw a few things for sale that would suit my car down to the ground. First off were a set of Porsche 928 S2s, 7s up front and 8s at rear with good tyres. Paid £400 delivered with H&R adapters, bargain I thought as adaptersare about £300 for all of em. So they went on and 17s were sold on ebay and they got about £120ish for em, so another bonus there.

Well so now i'm thinking more about power than looks. So my mind thinks lets stop better first and foremost. I had been reading up about brake upgrades and how expensive all the big stoppers are, except 312mm Audi TT brakes. Still expensive but only about £ 250 so I bought some on ebay. They came with delivery mileage use so pads and discs were very nearly new. So on they went, followed by Borbet T wheels as they would look fantastic and they did. BUT the wheel ground when I moved car so jacked it up and whipped wheel off to see score marks on wheel and marks on calipers. Wheels had to go, even tho' I stopped well with them on I wanted permanant good braking. Bye bye 9x16s, you are no more.

The other big purchase that I got was a Schrick inlet manifold that I got for £800 delivered, bargain back then in 2006 as they were and still are expensive. I put this on for E38 in 2006 and wow what a difference it made to the car even without a remap. Deffo one of the best things I have bought so far!!!

And thats how it stayed for about 6 months or so, I then said I would go to the 'ring at Easter 2007 so thought lets get it in for a dam good service, so off to Midland VW in Cannock to get the Miltek exhaust put on I had bought about 18months previous, get braided brake hoses on, put new calipers on front, have new metal brake lines front to back. The service did fuel filter, brake fluid and oil/filter. Didnt need plugs or air filter doing. I was now ready for the ring as I had 4 new Pirelli Pzeros put on the 928s for the trip as well.

2007 and passed pretty much by without doing anything, apart from sorting out a new set of wheels. I had bought some Merc wheels very cheap on ebay and took them to pureklass for polishing. I posted some teaser snaps on the forum as to what they were.

These are the wheels in there unpolished state. I have no pics but there are some on here, so if anyone finds em then link to it and i'll add it.

The only other mod done was a set of DDI dials were added which also had been sat around since mid 2006. Look great and now I see a standard VR and think it looks wrong

And thats about it, just servicing and replacing things ensuring that the car stayed running. I have upgraded the discs and pads to EBC ultimax discs and yellow stuff all round.

I did purchase Pete's Comp MO off him when he had to unfortunately sell his mk2 VR

And these made there way onto the wheels for track days and the ring....wow the grip

So stayed like that till the power bug came back and bit me really hard. I was trying to decide which way I was gonna go down the forced induction route and got to go out in both Ben' supercharged VR and Jims turbo VR whilst at the ring in 2009 i think. That made my mind up where I wanted to go, as much as I liked Jims I just thought that it might be too much for an everyday car for me. I liked the progressive power of the supercharger so I decided that I was gonna get a Rorex charger. I was gonna buy direct from Storm Developements as the price was and is very good, BUT one came up on this very forum and within hours of the chap posting I had sorted a deal out to buy it. Just had to go to London to pick it up.

Oh god how difficult was the drive home after picking it up knowing what I had just done!!!! No going back now....yay!

P4290165.jpg

I had lots of questions about what to buy and where from and what to do. I got lots of great info about best way to do things from this forum and visits to Storm. So I ordered a spacer plate from Storm, ARPs from the USA and a metal layered head gasket from VW. Add this to a polished head from Tony in exchange for a set of DR 268 cams I had sat at home. Was gonna be a deal with the schrick but Tony had some bad luck (again) and couldnt do the deal, im glad now as the schrick is now the heart of my car!!!

A little mini meet come service/repair day was arranged at Jim Potters aka Potter Engineeering, and my headgasket, ARPs and new head were duely put on by Tony for beer tokens. Car ran great on way home and pulled really well have a slightly lower compression.

I then booked car into Storm to get set up, and had a slight accident the day before I was due to go to Storm. An engine fire cooked some wires and car wasnt running right. I rang Storm to cancel my booking and was a bit down to be honest. All this happened at work, so had to limp car home on what sounded like 4 cylinders. I quickly stripped car down to find the cooked wires on the blue temp sensor and 2 cylinders. Sorted them out and thought lets try and get back in at Storm, but they had gone. I had a hotel booked near there anyway and couldnt cancel it without losing all my cash. So off I went down and got to hotel. I tried ringing in the morning but no answer, so I went there and they were full but they did squeeze me in. New leads and plugs were put in and she put out 282bhp which pleased me no end.

I had months of trouble free motoring till the clubs rolling road day at Bretts workplace. Good day was had and I found out that mine wasnt running right, they had a tinker with it but needed to get other people on the rollers. After what was said there I bought a walbro 255lph fuel pump, at BEGI rr fpr and bigger injectors. In they all went and it ran fine for 2 weeks then it wouldnt start.

The threads are on here about my trials and tribulations with that.

So if anyone finds any pics that could fill some holes than bung them up here and i'll add them in.

Thanks for reading and if all else fails then.......

Well today I added my decat, bitch of a job to get the cat off as the bolts were proper rusted in place. Trusty angle grinder soon had em off......3bolts in 3hrs!!!!

Put new lambda in and also wideband lambda is in place as well ready to attach to the gauge.

Fired up first time which is good....but now feels like it has a miss fire. I ran out of daylight so will have to whip plugs out to check them
