ThermalP4 1
Just looking for a little bit of advice as to what is considered high mileage for a VR6?I know you've gotta look at the rest of the car aswel when buying; but i just wanted to know what you guys would class as high mileage. The car i'm going for this week is a 1997 (P) Golf VR6 Highline with 85k on the clock. Thanks guys. tandino 1
85k is nothing for the big VR6 engine - just check for timing chain noise on idle or 1200rpm's - if all is good then not much more to worry about...Check the header tank and dipstick for signs of headgasket failure - check the header tank for fumes too..... Guest Olly_K
put it this way......i've seen vr6's change hands with 140k miles on them
Zonda_ 0
Mine has 133k on it, and apart from a few problem which I think are realted to it being parked on a drive for 2 years, it's fine. My mate has a Vento VR6 with 185k on it that runs perfectly and he has a Passat VR6 for a tow car with 201k on it!!85k is barely run in!
Nerih 0
mines done 72k and runs very nicely, i think the pulley tensioner is a bit rattley though (serpentine belt)....needs a bit of an oil me thinks..are vr's are so good..yeah...85k is nothing.
