Kelster 0
Just a quick query. I E-mailed Bill at SP Turbo about a RHD turbo manifold and he said that they don't make a RHD manifold but has sold many ATP turbo manifolds to RHD VR6 owners and they have had no problems.Anyone on these forums used that manifold ? If so was it straight forward ?
CorradoVR6-n.o.s 0
Stormcharged is using this manifold, you will have clearance isues with the brake reservoir, you will have to fit a remote reservoir fitted to sort this.
Kelster 0
Jeez. That was quick. Okay so not so straight forward as getting a RHD manifold then. I thought I read somewhere else on this forum about needing to move the reservoir but when Bill said that they had no issues then I thought maybe it just bolted on a cleared. Thanks for the quick reply
CorradoVR6-n.o.s 0
they have no issues as they are left hand drive so there is no brake master/servo there mate.
Radostormvr6 2
As james said im using ATP manifold with no problems, but you do have to move brake reservoir
Kelster 0
Okay cool. I understand that the LHD boys (an gals) would not have a problem. Was just that Bill said the RHD peeps had no problems either. Anyway thx for the replies, will get a RHD manifold instead. Was going to order so stuff from SPTurbo and wondered whether it was worth getting the manifold while I was at it.
Phat VR6 3
Does this not mean that you could use a complete LHD turbo kit and just move the brake reservoir??
CorradoVR6-n.o.s 0
no as most left hand drive kits foul the steering rack uj
H13VYY 0
good question..as from what i made out of it the manifold was the only problem ..wasn't it?
Phat VR6 3
no as most left hand drive kits foul the steering rack uj what fouls it? Guessing the down pipe?
FishWick 21
The SPA Turbo is the best manifold for RHD cars, providing you get a good one. I don't like the height at which the ATP one sites the turbo, puts a lot of flex angle on the down pipe.
Radostormvr6 2
schimmel always use the ATP manifold so you know its good Its also makes a neater install
FishWick 21
Schimmel doesn't have RHD installs to think about :-)The ATP is a very good manifold, the quality is excellent. It's also very short, so spool up is brilliant as you know Mr Shaun ;-)But....because it's so short, heat soak on the rear bank of cylinders is more of a problem. Shcimmel run 3% more fuel on the rear bank to compensate for this. The SPA hangs the turbo down low, and has more metal between the turbo and head and heat is drawn away by airflow under the car.But as I say, the quality of the SPA manifolds sold in this country is terrible. FishWick 21
Guess I'll have to eat my hat regarding the ATP drawbacks and throw it back open for debate.I'm seriously tempted by the Kinetic Motorsport manifold - http://www.kineticmotorsport.com/products/Kinetic_Motorsport_VW_12V_VR6_Manifold-213-93.htmlIt's made of the right material, stress relieved flanges and well judged runner lengths. As Bill sells both that and the ATP, I've asked for his opinion on which is best / toughest. UnitedMotorsport 55
Kinetic manifold doesnt fit RHD.We tried it, even machined it, everything is soo close.
FishWick 21
OK, cheers for that! I won't be going for that then!
michael5556 247
Anyone else got any suggestions? My spa is a very tight fitting with my 6766.
lowvr 0
fit the atp manifold and invest some time into a floor mount/dash hanger mount motorsport pedal box which will free up a lot more room in the engine bay and prevent fouling issues ...
