Nurburgring July 2008 (Summer)

Recommended Posts

Although this is still some months away we may as well get it up now so that people can make arrangements and save some money for the trip.

In July 2008 the VR6OC plan on taking another trip to the Nurburgring in Germany, following on from our Easter Trip.

we will be looking to go out on Friday July 11th to Tuesday 1July 15th 2008.

Camping ( http://www.camping-am-nuerburgring.de/ ) or Hotel are on offer ( http://www.goldfass.de/ ). Camping is E12 a day and the hotel E45. No need to book camping as it's a big site.

The following places make sense for rest / fuel / regrouping stops with post codes and google map links.

Le Clerc (Outreau 62230): http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=outreau&sll=50.880727,4.317627&sspn=0.088379,0.226593&ie=UTF8&ll=50.701459,1.607544&spn=0.005545,0.014162&t=h&z=16

Be aware it's possible that only cash sales are available to us due to UK cards not being accepted by the auto-pumps.

Texaco Groot-Bijgaarden (Dilbeek 1702): http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=groot+bijgaarden&sll=54.162434,-3.647461&sspn=12.061421,48.779297&ie=UTF8&ll=50.880754,4.25261&spn=0.005524,0.014162&t=h&z=16

140miles / 2hrs into the journey and just before Brussels ring road - there's nothing worse than being stuck in traffic and needing the bog! Belgium currently has the most expensive fuel on route => splash and dash

Gerolstein (Daun 54568): http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=gerolstein&sll=50.701459,1.607544&sspn=0.005545,0.014162&ie=UTF8&ll=50.223268,6.658959&spn=0.011203,0.028324&t=h&z=15

First German town we pass through, 140miles on from Groot-Bijgaarden and only 25miles short of the 'Ring and 10 from the hotel. Has 3 or 4 petrol stations, worth brimming them.

how about the 10:45 out on the 11th should still get us there before the track closes, or even opens!

And the 17:10 back on the 15th so we don't have to push it, the previous one is at 13:30

The basic tickets for those crossings are already sold out though! I'm gonna transfer one of my voucher tickets soonest.

i'm unfortunately not gonna be able to make this one either. Got a stag do in Barcalona the weekened before and can't get 2 weekends in a row of due to family commitments.

So my hunger to get some ring action will have to wait till next year :(
