binliner 0
should sit in the mid 90s IIRC and will rise into the 100s when you're in a hurry! as long as its not regularly going over 110 you're ok
Guest Olly_K
thats interesting, mine sits at about 90, but after booting goes to about
VR6Pete 1,455
I spoke to Vince at Stealth about this last week, I quote "104 degrees isnt bad for a VR6" they run very hot anyway. I may be getting an oil cooler kit, which drops the temp by around 10 - 15 degrees.
Guest Olly_K
doesnt oil work better at higher temps anyway ?
anorak 0
Apparently mineral oil starts to break down at temps of much more than 100 degrees C.Fully synth. can run a bit hotter. My Golf sits around the 100 mark on the motorway.I had a 'charged VR Corrado last year that regularly ran oil temps up to 140 plus on trackdays. Just changed the oil after every outing and everything was dandy! An oil cooler wouldn't have been a bad idea, however!
Eat this 2
mine sits in the 90s unless im pastin it the highest ever was 108 but i change the oil every 3k
tandino 1
Synthetic oil is good for at least 150'c before it begins to shear.think about it in regard to turbocharged engines and the turbo core temps - way past 100'c.I really dont see why everyone gets so worked up about the 100-110'c mark - good oil is more than capable of handling these temps.Pete.
