How much petrol should my VR be drinking???

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

As some of you know I picked up my VR last weekend. After driving it for a week, mostly short runs in traffic, commuting mainly, and a run up from brighton to croydont he day i collected it it seems to be drinking more than i expected.

On my short commutes to work i maanage about 15mpg if i drive it like i drove my gti, or 22-23 if i use the torque and short shift.

I managed about 200 miles on 1 tank.

Is this normal?????

Thanks

Today whilst driving to get my MOT and having the car ticking over for 25 mins in the MOT bay then getting caught in traffic running into Hastings to drop something off i got 13mpg B)B)B) - they dont like traffic one little bit :o

Usually i get about 30mpg on the motorway at anything between 80-90mph.

Over a tankfull i to get about 26-27 mpg and thats driving on all sorts of roads...

Pete.

I drove to derby once from down here in Berkshire, i was averaging a speed of about 8-90 mph and got 25mpg.

Normally on a tank i get about 180miles if im lucky. I used to think that my MK3 Gti was shit.. that gave me about 30mpg!

Put into perspective... a 4.0 litre Jag XJR will give you about the same on a long run as a VR6...

VR6 + Fuel consumption = Pretty shit :)
