Jk* 0
@ around easter im hoping to get a full respray on the DUB in the same colour. However theres a couple of things im planning.1. Louvres in the wing2. Flush the wiper and badge offBut... i am in debate about these ones3. Colour coding the bottom part of the rear bumper. (I currently have a tow hook sticking through mine so i would either get a new bumper and have it left, or have mine fixed and colour coded) Not sure??? 4. Remove side skirts (As one is cracked and the other is scuffed) Shall i keep them on and buy some new ones, or get rid? I need to start thinking about this as i will have to source some "new" parts. Thanks. Jk.
Earwig 89
I would remove side skirts.... Only trouble is you are never sure what bad things lurk behind 'em.Not sure what you mean by your rear bumper.... I know you are asking about coulour coding the bottom of it but you say it has a towing hook ? For towing caravans ? Or for towing another car ?Mark.
Jk* 0
Removing the side skirts is not going to be a problem as the whole car is being resprayed. As for the tow hook, it was on the car when i bought it, and it comes through the bottom part of the rear bumper and would therefore leave a hole.
Earwig 89
Do you need the towe eye ?If not then I suggest a new bumper and smooth the lower end like you want.... If however you need to towe then I suggest leaving it as it is and not smoothing the lower part as with a big tow bar in the middle it will be money wasted IMO. :-)Also when you get the rear hatch debadged etc... Make sure they PLATE it over and not fill it as it will sink ;-)Most places just say filling will be fine as it's only an indent and not a hole but trust me, it will sink ;-)Mark. Focker-out 0
I personally like the cars with the skirts off, but only do it if your sills aint been jacked up or bent, looking back i would have left mine on if i knew how badly bent and bowed my sills were.ONLY repair for this is new outer sills and i smoothed the line along the length of the sill too
Jk* 0
Ah...good point, i think ill check once the car goes in, if too bad then i shall fit some new skirts. As for the smoothing, i had that exact problem when i did it on my mk2 golf. Looked terriblle.

Focker-out 0
Even the jacking point on a MK3 is pathetic, can still bend it, personally i aalways jack my car yp at the subframe mount point or rear axle mount as this dont damage anything
