dubberVR6 0
I finally got round to doing a long overdue oil and oil filter change today. I took it out for a test run afterwards, and oh my God!!!! I don't know if I'm imagining things but it seems to be running 10 times better and even the induction roar sounds better! :-d Is this normal/likely or am I just suffering from oil poisoning????? +o(
Riggsvr6-again 0
Depends how long it's been! I've just replaced my lump with a s/hand one thats been sat in a garage for 8mths (80k full vag history) But when started it sounded like it ran on nails and shrapnell, after the service it's sweet as a nut.So yes it' could make a huge difference
dellert 0
Stuff the Billions of miles VW recommend, mine gets changed at least every 10k, the tappets get so noisy and it just generally runs and sounds poop! Hydrolic tappets need nice clean oil me thinks!
harry 0
just had mine done at awesome, i tend to do the oil and filter every 6-7000 miles. When i left work on friday at 1pm, got some super unleaded, the sun was out, sunroof open , radio off, and the vr sounded and ran as sweet as a nut, makes you so happy when you hear that roar!! VR40 0
Roper what does a service at Awesome cost? Was it a 10k service?
harry 0
just got the oil and filter changed, i think they use mobil stuff (its optional to have mobil 1) it came in at about 60 quid, the servicing costs at awesome seem quite ok, i think its about 160, may be wrong, you can check on their website under 'workshop'
duncs 0
i agree with highline, i just had my VR serviced at awesome yesterday - first full oil change since Jan. prior to it, i was worrying the chains were needing doing, the engine was tapping so badly, but after the service, bugs is running soooo sweet! my main service at awesome was £245 but that included some work to fix a bodyshell leak in 3 places too. the off-the-shelf quote for service was about 50 or so quid cheaper than the vw stealer. friendly bunch at awesome, too, they know their stuff.duncs
dubberVR6 0
Awesome's price seems pretty good considering the oil costs £20-30. Maybe I'll save the time in future for the sake of an extra £30.
harry 0
i just think its reassuring when you go to awesome because they know what they are doing, its piece of mind. Its also quite good there, i did prefer the old premises at school lane though, very understated and a cool place to visit.
