purple highline monster 0
as i read it, its given as 241 bhp for a mk4, its pretty impresive for a factory bhp on a vw, and they grip like fook to match the power!
badboyV6 4
Ive read on a couple of forums there is a simple mod you can do to these to release an extra 10 bhp. How true this is im unsure... but worthy knowing.
purple highline monster 0
i am sure a trip (expensive trip!) to one of the bhp gurus and apparantly you should be able to get one upto about 280 without too much trouble! i think they are a bit like the old golf rallye, a few tweeks here and there and they come alive! antera309 3
The Audi TT V6 has exactly the same engine as the R32, but produces 260BHP. AFAIK, the only difference is the software.AMD do a drive in, drive out remap for the Mk4 R32 which liberates and extra 15BHP & 15lb-ft.http://www.amdtechnik.com/product.details.cfm?ProductID=48&VariantID=72&ReferenceID=213On the mk4 & mk5, the ECU can actually be remapped via the OBD port on the dash. You don't even have to open the bonnet!!

haf1zur 0
HiIts called the Flapper MOD, basically the exchaust has been restricted to open up after say 40mph, after you unplug the flapper, it gives a healhy boost. And a louder noiseAlso, VW did a software upgrade where the R went from241 to 250 or even 255 on certain carsHafizur
purple highline monster 0
can VW do the software upgrade at a dealers? i have heard about the flapper mod, what exactly does it entail and is it reverseable?
haf1zur 0
yep, vw do the software upgrade at the dealers, its free so dont let them blag you about chargesthe flapper mod, basically a silencer was fitted on the back box, due to eu noise regulations, and when you hit 40mph the flapper would open up.if you unplugged the cable, or crimp it, then the flap is open all the time, allowing the car to breathe easierhafizur
petervr6 0
i take it if you change the exhaust it wouldnt have that in the after market exhaust. surely if you just simply unpluged it then it wouldnt open at all and stay shut.
matth76 1
Would an aftermarket exhaust have this flapper in it? If a cat back s/s exhaust system is fitted to a mk4 what power can it liberate and is a remap going to liberate any power or is the stock ecu very good?
haf1zur 0
the after market exhausts do not have the flapperwell with a remap, intake, cat and exhaust your looking at 300bhpwhich isnt bad
