As this is a budget build (and the future wife has told me I can't spend anymore on the Golf till after our wedding in April) I'm going to guinea pig the £79 from GSF & see how it goes.

As it states in the title. My front drivers side regulator has failed leaving the window open (all bloody night in the rain! ) I have a 3dr at my parents house with perfectly working windows. Could I swap the regulator over from that? Cheers Jamie

Yes the ABS pump/ecu needs coding to the car, if you have a look on the thread I started a bit further down there a fantastic guide that was linked..... The ABS unit is a complete pump/ecu unit & the whole thing gets replaced, just make sure you get the correct unit as I believe there was quite a few for the same model. The part number is on the front of the unit facing the firewall but with a camera phone you can just about take a pic & read the numbers.

Evening all, I managed to get a couple of spare hours yesterday to have a play with the Golf. Fitted my front badge. Fitted my Skoda Octavia Alloys And changed to red & amber rears/orange sides plus the obligatory de wiper bung Left on the list of things to do are: Fit Konis with H&R springs Fit ABS pump Buy & Fit new coil Tint front fogs & indicators yellow with laminex Fit new front seats (Re-bolstered & trimmed VR6 seats) Then see what else needs doing...... Oh & save for the manual conversion

It might be inc VAT then as I just said "ok cheers" & hung up before I started laughing.... How can they charge that & would anybody actually pay that? I mean it's 50% of what I paid for the car....

New battery & started 1st time but now she's misfiring under light loads, not on full throttle. Could this just be damp?

Evening all. I've just got home & decided to take the Golf out for a run. I unlocked it with the fob as normal, got in, switched on the ignition & everything lit up like normal. I turned the key to start it & there was a load of clicking from behind the dash, the starter motor whirred then all the lights went off & the clock reset back to 0:00. It's been stood for about 2 weeks & this bloody weather has been nasty..... Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Could it be something simple like a low charge in the battery or is it likely something more sinister? Cheers J

Morning all! I've just purchased a replacement ABS pump/ECU for my 1997 Golf VR6. I can't seem to find any info on changing it & as it's the 1st time I've done it I'd like a guide or how to for it. Does anyone know of anything or can anyone give me the "Idiot" instructions Cheers Jamie

17 x 7.5 will fit perfectly with an offset of 35. I ran my last VR6 on this with a 50mm drop with no rubbing at all

Hi all, My car came with the lead that goes from the obd port to USB, is there a vagcom that I can get for my laptop? I'll need to recode my abs pump when I get it so I'll need it for that. Cheers Jamie

That's cool mate. I was going to ask if there was one of these about as I have the original invoice for my car but it doesn't have any options on it, I'll rum all the codes on the boot floor when I get home

I too need to sort the abs pump on my obd2 auto. Do I need to take the old one off to get to the part number or can I check it with it on? Also is it just a straight swap or dies it need coding to the car?
