  1. There's still plenty standard exhausts out there, and of course on cars that are kept standard. I knew exhausts (and air intake) are common first mods on vr6s but not sure though if there is much improvement other than sound with a new exhaust. I've noticed too milltek is a very popular choice. I've owned my vr since beginning of August and it was completely standard when I got it. Wanting to do it up but trying to work out exactly what I want to do first. So far all I've done is replace the number plates and fit holders and got new wheels which will go on complete with new tyres after the win
  2. Isn't the standard vr6 exhaust fairly decent?
  3. Cool, folk on my local vw forum are basically saying remapping a standard vr is like pissing in the wind. Can be worthwhile though after you've added mods such as exhausts, cams, turbos etc
  4. Cheers for the reply. Makes sense, I don't know an awful lot about remapping, just trying to gather info atm.
  5. Looking into remapping my golf vr6 but have heard that the gains are minimal, is this true? Or can a remap give a significant power increase?
  6. Looking good, will be keeping an eye on this thread. I've thought about turning my vr (current daily) into a track car in the future and getting a new daily, most likely a bmw 3 series
  7. It's times like these when you wish your car had James Bond gadgets attached......ie missiles to blast the knob's car with to get justice. Hope the repair isn't too much hassle!

    FAIL mk2

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-GTI-with-Reconditioned-Engine-/120998912395?nma=true&si=IiNEYofThBi%2BA4o2Qu6%2FCXRcwAc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 I don't know whether to laugh, cry or feel sorry for the poor car....
  9. Hi I'm Sam and this is my golf.... Pic from not long after she was bought Parked next to the mother's mk6 golf tsi At an EastsideVW meet with a mk2 gti 8v: Bought new number plates and surrounds to tidy her up a bit, Front plate was cracked and rear one corroded at the bottom and both were fairly warped and minging: Plans are to fit coilovers and already have another set of decent BBS's which will be going on after the winter complete with new tyres. The current wheels (highline standard bbs solitudes) will become my winter wheels as they're bit kurbed and corroded etc plus the alloy caps
  10. Don't mean to be a pain, but it says 2012 in the thread title instead of 2013....
  11. Anyone know when it is? The website ( http://www.ultimate-dubs.co.uk/ ) is down at the moment for updating!

    Estates

If I was to ever buy an estate would probs go for a BMW 3 series, an e30, e36 or e46. Would probs go for e36 as in my opinion they are the best looking 3 series

Btw you have to do the mot before tax cos you need an mot certificate in order to purchase a tax disc. I've took my car off the road before (declared SORN) and garaged it. You can't buy a tax disc (after car being SORN) without an insurance certificate, mot certificate and registration document.

There are companies that you can pay to transport it for you, no idea how much that would cost though. Instead of a tow truck you could get the car on a trailer and tow it with a car fitted with a towbar (if you've access to one). What nic is the car in? And do you plan on doing lots of work on it before putting on the road? If it's in good nic I'd buy insurance and book an mot near where the cars located. I'm 99% sure it's legal to drive a car that's insured a short distance to an mot centre. Then from there I'd tax it and drive home. I'd imagine that would be cheapest option.
  16. In the last few months I have seen (not including meets): Black p reg vr6 highline (October - Aberdeen, heading out to Altens) Red vr6 (October - Aberdeen, heading towards Dyce from town) Green vr6 (August - Glenrothes, parked in industrial estate nr travelodge) Also saw a tidy dark blue corrado vr6 parked in Inverbervie, Aberdeenshire. Was caught gawking at it by the passenger just as it was starting up. The car then pulled away, driven by a guy in his 40s/50s possibly who gave me a nod and grin.....are you on here mr corrado?
  17. Very own Scottish Spotted Thread! Please wave if you see a mulberry p reg golf vr6 highline round Aberdeen/Dundee/North East.....that would be me!
  18. YES! I wave at all vr6s and will wave at other mk3s if they're well looked after/done up etc. Have seen the odd battered up mk3 driven by an old person who is clearly not into cars etc etc...... Will give mk1s and 2s a wave too
  19. My first car was a 1.5 yaris t sport. I had no idea they even made t sports till I stumbled across one one day while car hunting. They're basically a Yaris shell but done up with nicer spoilers etc, sports seats, better gearbox, better steering wheel etc etc. I drove my mums 1.3 yaris t spirit to compare and the difference is tremendous. The t sports handling is top notch. Few of my mates took the piss outta it at first cos its a Yaris but after a drive had changed their opinions. As standard the ride heights a bit high but fit a set of coilovers and they look pretty nice. They only weigh abou
