  1. you need to get it back on the computer to erase the original fault codes, your light will then go out.

    Sharan...Obd1 or 2?

Excellent news. Thanks! I might just have found a replacement engine for my Galaxy ;~]
  3. Just a quickie. Would a 1996 Sharan vr6 be Obd 1 or 2? I'm not in a position to make visual checks so I'm hoping someone here can answer this before I part with any money. Thanks Nath

  5. I have recently had a similar problem with my Vr6 engined Galaxy. I ran Vagcom and it showed an intermittent signal from the throttle position sensor and there was some agreement that this could be the cause of the problem. Also there were no gearbox fault codes found on Vagcom. The problem righted itself within a day and hasn't reappeared.
  6. Isn't this a safety feature, kind of 'limp' mode? If theres a problem with the car then the box wont go into 4th to prevent there being further damage. At least thats the case with my Galaxy with Vr6 engine and autobox.
  7. I ran Vagcom yesterday and this fault was found 1 Fault Found: 00522 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62) 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent What is hte location of the sensor? Is it the blue one on the front of the engine with another sensor either side of it? Thanks Nathan
  8. We had a good run out in our Vr6 engined Galaxy the other day. We can get plenty of hot and cool air coming through the vents inside the car but the problem is that the the temperature when set on high keeps fluctuating hot and cold through the vents. It seems that the faster you go the cooler the air, slow back down adn you get nice hot air. Also when you're at m'way speeds the engine temperature gauge barely registers but as you slow down the gauge moves up to normal. The car was supposed to have had a new thermostat fitted when the head gasket was changed just prior to my buying it. Theres
  9. I saw a vr6 engine advertised on ebay and asked the seller 'germanbreakers1saeed' whether it was OBD1 or 2? What was the response I hear you shout? The response from 'germanbreakers1saeed' was, whats obd? If they dont know what obd is what chance have I got of buying a genuinely sound engine from them?:-|
  10. Hi I read about the dipstick here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-VENTO-VR6-AUTOMATIC-AUTO-GEARBOX-PASSAT-CORRADO-/320571582403?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4aa38e27c3 He says that it wont fit cars in which the gearbox has no dipdtick. What g-box code would I need? Thanks Nathan
  11. Hi guys have had a couple of gearchange problems this weekend on my v6 galaxy 1997 model. Do any of the gearboxes from any VW cars fit? I ahve seen that golf vr6 gearboxes have a dipstick whereas the oil in my galaxy gearbox can only be checked by removing a plug in the box. Thanks Nathan
  12. If not the thermostat then are the radiator fans cutting in? If not then likely you need a new rad fan switch. Nathan
  13. Thanks Craggsy. Can you point me in the direction of the coil pack please?
  14. Hi guys I know my Galaxy V6 is using oil, approx 1 litre every 200 miles at motorway speeds. I want to do a compression test and when I've done this on previous motors I've removed the HT lead from the coil to the dizzy cap to prevent the car starting on turnover. I have no such lead on this car (obd2) so how can I prevent the car starting when I do the comp test?
  15. Hi guys I received my welcome letter membership card and window sticker yesteerday. Today I have attempted to use the sticker but its unusable due to the fact that backing has not come off the sticker completely. Its left a very thin layer of backing on the vr6 part of the sticker. Is there any chance of having another one sent out please? Nath
  16. Thanks for the advice guys. Whats Tonys username on here?

    Peter Russek

Thanks Vr6stormt. I would havew responded sooner but I've been distracted by your avatar. lol I've ordered one from and ebay seller now.
  18. As I posted a few days ago this Galaxy I bought seems to be - correction - is using oil.:-( Its ok just driving around town, its not as if there are plumes of blue smoke. But get it revving hard and you can see some smoke. After a journey cruising on the motorway @ 70 - 80mph there is less oil on the dipstick at the end than at the start of the journey. There is plenty of poke, smooth pickup and tickover. So I'm thinking that as the top end has been completely rebuilt its the piston rings that need replacing? Wheres the best place to buy the rings and other parts? Can anyone recommend a good g
  19. I'm thinking of buying a Peter Russek manual for my V®6 Galaxy. My question is, are the manuals any good? Worth buying? Thanks Nathan
  20. I've just bought a Galaxy V6 with a newly rebuilt top end and the tappets are noisy on it. Its done over 1k since the rebuild and its still noisy'ish ;~ {
  21. Thanks. So thats one of the ways that I can tell its OBD2 not OBD1?
  22. Hi guys thanks for the advice on the HT lead removal tool I needed for the Vr6. Today I have replaced the 6 plug leads but I have another lead and I cant see where it should go. Its the lead that would normally go from the coil to the dizzy cap but it doesn't seem to exist on this car. Btw its a 1997 Galaxy V6. Thanks in advance, Nathan
