inspiration.. need new rims
theblueflash replied to theblueflash's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
this was what i had on the car when i bought it. they were 9j et15 they rubbed the side walls of the tyres at the rear. Im not good at the maths when it comes to wheel offsets but how much further in am i with the new rims if they are 7.5j et0???? -
pics of the new sills on, as promised. its appears to be a good job. fully zinc primed to help fend off future corrosion. the new jacking points are sweet as well. no more rust which is a relief. just needs to be smoothed by a bodyshop and sprayed. then going back to the garage where they are waxoyling the inide of the sills here are a few pics of the work and a shot of how its sitting currently (looking a little sorry for itself)

another shot to help decide ive decided to keep these rims as ive found some adapters at a good price. just need to hear back from the guy selling them. they are et20. the adapters im hoping to buy are 20mm so that will make it an offset of 0. anybody run an offset of '0' on their car? particularly with 7.5j at the front. im curious to know if their is any arch or inner clearance problems. pic would be nice if anyone can put some up. just so i know what to expect. cheers -

i think £150 a pair. dont really want to pay out for new ones. especially with tyres, fresh paintwork and the welding ive just had done. never normally this tight but got two holidays in the next 3 months so have to compromise somewhere. on the lookout for a second hand set at the right price. -

well i fooilshly put them up on the bay as i wasnt sure. so if no one buys them I'll use them. just unsure what to put on really. could spend all day on wheels whores and edition38!!! -
after selling my kerchers as they were not my thing i still cant decide what to run on my car. I part ex'd them with some audi pepperpots and cash my way as i needed something to move the car with but they dont really suit it and the 60 and 65 profile tyres are rubbing. a lot! so i have two weeks to find alternatives before she goes in to have the sills finished, the rear quarters/front wings and doors sprayed. I dont want to have them on when its done as i'll be rubbing fresh paint off the car. found these cheap but bmw adapters are expensive so may not run them thoughts? i wasnt sure but

its been over a month now since ive seen the car, but some progress at last. with the rot problem i really had thought about giving up. booked it into a garage and they took on the job but they were a little busy. so as it stood... jacking points rottern, sills rottern garage proposed replacing entire sills, fabricating all 4 jacking points and new membranes picked it up today and it looks so much better than before pic up tomorrow of finished work but here are whats left of the old jacking points they are completely gone, no wonder it wouldnt hold the weight of the car! sills were startin

I was under the impression you hads the option to send them in? there are links to other companies on plate my ride, will try calling one tomorrow to see what they say. if they are close enough i'll go down and get a set made
-
ok. they are shut for a show until tomorrow. but there seem to be a few options. platemyride describe their uk road legal pressed plates very well and they provide a link to buy - which is broken dubmeister dont have any info on their site about road legal pressed uk plates - not helpful and are we talking about tsr-performance? nothing on their site at all about number plates! somebody must know where to get some from. they are extremely popular and it doesnt make sense that only one site gives you the information you need but no option to buy!!!
-
I've been trying to buy some legal pressed plates for a while now and can't work out they're site. they don't answer the phones and the link on their sister site platemyride is broken. anyone shed any light on what's happened to them? I know the site was being repaired or something but that date has been an gone.

legal rims/tyres
theblueflash replied to theblueflash's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
about half hour from you. near winchester. not so much of a problem now as I sold the wheels that were on the car. just handy to know for future reference as I have a few ideas for rims and want to make sure I dont get it wrong the 1st time -
dropped the car off at the garage and the guys recommended a complete sill replacement. better to be safe than sorry they say. will reduce the need for any further work in the future and wont cost a lost more in labour anyway. so give it a few weeks and I should have it back ready for the bodyshop, or freshly painted from the bodyshop. fingers crossed.

well here we are again. third vr6 this year!!!! some people may remember my old thread where i went from this to this and now to this think I have trouble making my mind up! luckily ive been able to to sell the others fairly quickly so i can move onto the next project reasonably quickly. Few problem areas with the car i wanted to work on before puting it on the road. rusty arches. just infront of the wheel its bubbling. (i actually machine polished the rear quarter as there was a bird dropping scar. came out nicely. best looking part of the car at the moment! worst at the bottom of the f

legal rims/tyres

not sure but with the problems that have popped up this week the car will need welding and throwing into a bodyshop and I dont have the funds or know anyone round here competant enough to do anything except paint a car let alone mod it (stretching arches etc) I just want some nice wheels to stick on it. was gonna rock steelies as they are f**k all from a scrappy until i found something. -
have searched but am running out of time. I'll be using my new vr from saturday and am having to use the wheels on it until i can find something to replace them with. they are a little marmite for my liking so may sell them. basically the rears are 9j with stretched tyres on. I want to know where i stand with the law and m.o.t rules. The wheels protrude from the arch but the tyre tucks in at the top. Is this legal or are the fuzz going to have a field day. Sorry if this has been covered but Im new to this 'dub' game and I know a lot roll on the wide and stretched but I cant be doing with t

found this pic on the net. anyone know what they are and if they're a straight fit? i.e, pcd/spacers/arches etc etc

just been reading a wanted thread on here for a highline vr6 rear badge. pointless maybe but typed it into ebay and look what i found. is anyone actually stupid enough to pay that much for a badge..... go on, i dare you http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-VR6-HIGHLINE-FRONT-GRILL-BADGE-New-emblem-/300403313468?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45f16ecb3c
