Your a lifesaver , while your on does the camshaft locking procedure for the 12v work on the 24v? i have me motor out, box is coming off tomorrow them im hitting the chains and me stupid autodata registration hasnt been finished yet.
-
Cant see how the outer joint comes off the shaft, its the one VW gave me for it and aside from it not going over the thick bit of the shaft it looks great, does the joint come off the shaft?
-
outer, inner is rubber and was fine, i dont want to have to buy a tool really cos the olkd snapon account is way over budget. Theyre a pooey plastic sort of material, one went on as the shaft was skinny but im struggling with the fatter shaft.:-d

How the hell do you get the genuine plastic CV boots on the fat driveshaft on the front of a 4mo, iv rived, growled, shouted, swore, cried and asked nicely but will it heckers like go on any one know a way???;(
-
They are pretty cool, all the 20vT boys have them and now the PD TDI lot, wasnt aware of it working with the VR tho? Have always fancied one:)
-
Too lazy to start my how too and snow is too much for the van to get up there, got the day off today too:-d Have bought R32 wishbones and powerflex (or whatever awesome sell) ARB bushes and dog bone bush. And tasty magnetic sump plug, along with the timing chain bits and new driveshaft boots too, bank account is squealing till payday now;( Then need clutch, slave cylinder, gearbox mount is quite a bit looser than engine mount so prob need one of them too. Motor box and driveshafts came off on sunday so will begin the rebuild soon:-d

Top job there, i dont envy your job fittin the downpipe, got my manifolds off today on the road to engine out, took me 2 hours never mind taking off the downpipe. Let us know how it goes:-d Does anyone know if anything can be done to the manifolds while theyre off, boring them out or whatever???
-

Jealous!! Your motor is awesome and i want mine to make flames too;( top job yessir... See a motor like that would urinate in a very german manner all over my mates RB26 powered skyline GTST and i want that very much:) PS did you need forged internals for the boost your on, and where did you get your kit??? -
Ah poo, ive been looking at one for months waitin for the wonga too:)
-
Demon Tweeks have a special on supersprint about £180 stainless too i think. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=ROAD&pcode=RGMFC145 its on the list

I have been told that whilst the peak gain is not high, the gains in response and mid is noticeable and improves the driveability, unless its all just sales bollox....
-
Ill get round to it, im poor you know:) Haldex may not get done straight away like...
-
I know of Revo and RTech, ill prob be using RTech... only get approx 20hp tho on a standard car, dunno bout yours:)
-
Have just ordered with my stealer the following bits: 2 Timing chains 4 Guides / slides 1 Tensioner 4 front CV boots 1 haldex filter 1 haldex oil Still undecided as to whether i get a fast road or OE clutch... and polybushes will have to wait cos im skint ;( And will be getting engine service bits as the dash is saying service due in 1500mls
-
I agree to the point made about sticking to limits regardless, but im lucky we have genuine zero speed limit roads so i save meself for these, my mate has a habit of 40 or more in a 30, lucky sod dont get caught tho. So 30 / 40 / 50 when needs be an i dont stray above either(it annoys passengers, then whatever takes me fancy when i see the white circle with a diagonal line:-d The reason i have this view is i see countless bike fans die every year when trying to race around the TT course when its clearly a normal road with limits, blind corners, tractors, sheep and some very chuffin rough bits
-
Thats the plan matey;) the cost is gonna be quite big tho, cam chain bits wont be too bad but other bits and tools needed, the snap-on man is rubbing his little mitts together;( Work starts sunday the 20th dec... so excited
-
I love this car, swap you my 4motion:-p Quite a lot jealous....
-
Well iv since decided that the motor is coming out over xmas as i have 2 weeks off :-d gonna attack the chains, new clutch, front polybushes, ferodo DS pads and TarOx discs and all 4 front driveshaft boots. Gonna be dear but she'll be much happier:) Wish me luck, ill try to do a guide for the 24v engine if one doesnt exist....
-

-
Picked up my new wheels, after seeing them in the flesh i wanted the black / polished new rs4 reps. Horrible cheep tyres but legal unlike my last one which were down to the cord!!!
