As the vr is half dead im between an r32 motor and an s3 lump, any one know how much difficulty am i going to have with an s3 motor? Im aware this is somewhat controversial but i want a more tunable and powerful 4mo, after all next year ill be wanting to chase and try to keep up with my mates in their RB26 powered skyline gts-t, RB25 s14a and 400bhp s14 but on a relatively tight budget, bearing in mind ill be doing the work to allow max parts cash:) I know getting jap power gains are not easy or cheap with a dub but.... Your inputs / recommendations are muchos welcome

Bad times now, after repeated death on the TT course this last week or so the head gsaket died, then i got told cylinder 1 has piston slap;( so a new motor is required, a nice chap at storm helped me out and i think r32 is the way forward, so in the mean time the 4mo lays dead, slain, upon the driveway spilling blood and im reduced to a mk3 gti 8v in ghey blue, though it is lowered has ace brakes and hope to rive my cda on it:) The 4mo will be back with new engine, lambo orange paint & carbon fibre and will now be my weekend / track toy...

Front end strip it is mate, had my front end off to get the motor out and its then easily accessible, you'll need something to release aux belt tension, though a 8mm bolt wont do it (mine stripped) i ended up using a spanner on the nut shape on the tensioner by the wheel, not a big job just fiddly for not a lot of money a new belt is a worthwhile job too..

ns/f knocking sound , 2000 v6 4motion
warby replied to jetski-billy's topic in Syncro, R32 and 4motion
my 4mo was giving a slight knock on any surface and whilst i took the motor out i took the wishbones off and found the rear bushes to be shot, got some cheap genuine wishbones with r32 bushes in, should sort it... So try bushes. -
my 4mo is 248 till april this year and 278 next year, thats for 12months as we cant have 6months;(

4motion - Suspension Upgrade, advice needed
warby replied to S600B_DC's topic in Syncro, R32 and 4motion
You could do the full r32 setup, shocks springs, bushes arb's etc and would sit nicely on your 18s, but even used r32 shcoks will be more than coilies. Nice set of coilies (dont want to lower it more than 30mm as it has been suggested it plays havoc with the Haldex) Polybushes etc ARB's Should be a nice tight ride then, might want to look into adjustable bushes or adjustable rear tie bars to sort out the rear camber too. My standard 4mo scrubs slightly with 18's going into full lock at times though. Hope this helps otherwise someone more in the know will help you out:) -

The timing case is off now, chains and bits changed, will try to take as many pics as poss but im getting desperate to drive her again cos im sick to death with driving the dagenham dustbin;( She weighs a fair bit too the lump, im a big lad and struggled with wielding it on the jack though i now have a crane. List of bits to finish her: Rear main oil seal Gearbox seal Clutch Release bearing A pipe i bust riving the lump out Oil filter Oil for motor, steering, brake fluid, coolant A lottery win to afford it all And others i cant be arsed finding me list:)
