    haha yeah Scotland is tad far mate Why did you remove your alarm? He had loads of gadgets out, I guess he just had one of them measuring the discharge as he turned everything on and off. I guess he might know out of experience what's too much. As soon as I get him to fit this alarm, I'll keep you updated as to whether it's made a difference...

    Had the electrician round yesterday morning. He had a good look round and found 2 possible faults. I've just put in a radio/dvd/gps/ipod head unit that I bought off ebay. It's an asian product and he told me that I can't hook the ignition and the live together becasue asian units pull too much current when the ignitions off, or something like that. So he's rewired that. But there's still an unhealthy amount of discharge from the battery (ignition off). He said it might be the alarm which I've never used since I've bought it, ony because the last owner nerver got a fob when he bought it. So

    Any chance you got them off eBay? I bought some rear lights ages ago and I sent them straight back. They came with this crappy foam stuff around the edge which was magically suppost to keep rain water out. Just don't wash your car lol

    It had a service over a week ago... filters, oil and plugs. And, recently I've just put in a new head unit which caused a few sparks and blew a 10fuse. I've put some fresh insulation round the cabling and the radio works now though. But I hope thats not the cause of it!!?? There's no interior lights on and I wouldn't know where to start for a bad earth... Having a electrician look at it on Thursday.

    Here's a sticky one for you guys... Was planning to drive home from work but found the battery was dead, so later on that day the old man came and charged it up for us. Drove it home, no problems. Planned to take a drive to Halfords the next day to test my battery, but found it flat... again, so took the battery out and got a lift there. The battery passed the test at 71%. They then later tested my alternator, which also passed. What could draining the battery? I'm planning on getting someone to look at why the engine is hunting aswell. The revs hit about 500 when I brake and go neutral.

    Wondered if any of you could give me some advice on a security system. I need a alarm imobilliser installing. Where do I go, or who do I call to get this done? Which system is the best? How much do these things usually cost.

    Unfortunatly is was too rusted, so WD40 was no good. ended up shaving the screw off and using the double sided sticky tape daleyboy was on about. All done though...

    Hey ppl, just bought some fresh plates and I've run into a problem... The screws for the rear are totally rusted. I've managed to pul one screw out but I'm not sure what to do with the other. Do I cut it off? Then how do I go about attaching the new plate with those rusty bolt things in the way?

    I haven't attempted it yet, but how do you get the carpet off from under the bonet? I'm thinking of taking it off my VR and putting it in my Gti which doesn't have one. Might make Gti a little quieter as well. Is it clipped on or glued on? Will I damage the paint work underneath?
