    right, well i might get sum oil, filter and gasket for this weekend then! wots best oil? well anoying it needs 5.5 litres! they all come in 5 litre tubs at work and thats 5w30 fully synthetic....or wot else does incase i cant get hold of that?

    hopefully not head gasket, no contamination, no smoke and it sat on the motorway for 3 hours non stop, then stuck in london traffic for 4 hours without getting hot so that should be fine. cant find a reciept for chains but there noisey as imo so need doing...

    have ob1's got any 'common' or 'known' places to leak oil? got a load down the front of the engine......cant c it from the top but the inlet is in the way and i havnt taken it off yet. from underneith it looks quite high up. i rekon rocker cover gasket....jus wondering if anyone knows where its from lol. not changing oil till ive sorted it cos its pretty bad!

    yea i werent a fan but its the only one i could afford, and everything else was spot on.....growing on me now tho. looks better dirty imo

    yea this is rapid for me, mates got a clio cup and he cant loose me! no replacment for displacment! had a 145mph on the clock today lol couldnt do no more, i chickend out haha

    well here she is, chopped my mondeo in for her and love it - wanted one for years! its my 3rd golf, between the 3 they've done over half a million miles! previous was two 8v mk2 gti's. high miles, 160,000 on the clock but runs lovely, jus need to do the chains + tensioners. oh and oil leak....or leaks.... bit of de-cluttering (rear wiper, badges, mudflaps and huge DAB airel all removed), smoked lights and lowered so far... drilled and de coned airbox yea needs a wash......

    sorted! had it on ramp today at work, all fitted! my mate fitted the fronts and there fine, so i must of done summit wrong! i jus fitted rears and been for drive - there great! ride quite nice too! well worth it. cheers

    craggsy, i agree. that guide is spot on, yup - deffo think the bearings gone. wot i didnt mention that before i started the top cup sat higher anyway - not that much tho!!! will be done tomoz tho!

    right, 4 hours later and im back where i started! riding high lol! put standard ones back on. amazak - i was watching them on ebay to lol. believe it or not i build gearboxes for a living!! aint done suspension before tho... so going work tomoz and putting it on ramps.....WILL av them on! cheers so much for ur help, seriously! put same post on edition 38 and they did bugger all to help!

    done that i think......plate, nut, top rubber, plate nut....

    right, wot i did was - holding damper - put spring on, put cup on, put nut on, put rubber on then slid it up thru, cup n nut!?

    should the nut be under or on top of that cup/plate?
