    Funny you should say that as ive had problems with my immobiliser on the past, it was stopping my car from starting then sparkz came and disconnected it then it started no probs. So you think this is whats causing it then even tho its been disconnected?

    Its not that i think it needs replacing its just that i have no idea when it was last changed. When i bought the car the owner said it was due a service so im guessing it needs replacing as its probably over 3 years since it was changed. Maybe im wrong i just thought that since it hasnt been changed for a while i should change it? What do you guys think is there a certain period to when it should be changed?

    Mission accomplished i cannot actually beleive how easy it was to do that service. I done the spark plugs, ht leads (dubpower 7mm ones) Oil and oil filter change. I have not attempted the fuel filter am a bit wary of doing this on my own. Thanks for all your help guys. Has anyone an idea whats causing my vr to cut out as mentioned in my first post?

    Yeh i have got drilled/grooved on the rear, i will look into how much they are then the yellow stuff and the ferrodo pads.

    To be honest they have not been done since ive had the car which is over a year and a half. God knows when they were fitted and whether they put any copper grease on them. I suppose its about time for some new brake pads then? Which ones do you recommend?

    My brakes have all of a sudden just started squeaking? Anyone know what the cause of this is? I have checked the pads and they look fine?

    Well i phoned fords they have one in stock for a 98 galaxy 2.8 so fingers crossed its the same.

    I thought you might say that, bollocks!! So im gonna have to take the risk of leaving the car jacked up till i get back then. Does it have to be a genuine vw part though or any brand as long a sits the same fit? Or could i get one from fords? Oh and thanks mate.

    I am just in the process of changing my oil fiter and i have noticed that the one i bought it slightly different at the top. Is this ok or should i go buy a one form vw that is a direct replacement? It fits in ok just looks different? Im desperate to know as i have the car jacked up so im kinda stuck? Please help :S Old one on the left and new one on the right.
