  1. I'm no mechanic, but considering the fault appered after rain, would it not be fait to think something has got damaged in the bay? Checked all the fuses and earths yet?
  2. I get about 270miles to a tank. But can get 35 regularly on long trips of about 70miles each way. Best ever was 38, but that was 55MPH all the way, proper credit crunch drive!
  3. Got a VFR800, a Pug 306 d (project to sell) and a 125ped for work :$
  4. Well done mate. I'm doing discs and pads today, wish me luck hope I don't get any nighmares like you did!
  5. Yeah, think I would do the same. Why is it so importnat to use this G12 stuff? Sorry first VW!
  6. Well, i'm capable of doing the work, just wondering if its one of things that people do while they are there? think I will leave it as I think the pump is good, and shouldn't be much greif to change later if needed. Thanks
  7. Just got the last kit! Anyone going to do the water pump at the same time? Just thinking the VW G12 (or whatever it is called) is bond to be £20odd, so wondering if it a false economy not to do the pump, while doing the rest???
  8. Oh, nice picture btw, wheels look really good on it
  9. Thanks for that, think mine is about the same height, will get a picture to compare. Think I should keep them, would miss them when I want a boot!
  10. Cheers so what about ride height, what do you run?
  11. yes, feel hard to me, feel EVERY little bump. Maybe I should raise the height a bit, what is the normal drop people do, i'm on STD wheels. Also, any idea on the cost to refurb them? Pat
  12. Hi all I have a bit of a dilemma. I have a set of Koni coilies and Eibach ARB's on the golf at the moment. I now do quite a few miles in the car, and am tempted to fit the standard stuff I have and sell the Koni stuff just to make a few bob, and also because the ride is quite hard considering the miles I do. However, the standard stuff to me, just looks so high, and I think I remember it being really, really soft. Is there a happy middle ground, such as Gti standard stuff or is that the same as the VR. Don't want lowering springs, every car I have had them on has been horrible! Cheers
  13. Yes I have. I think my system is creating too much pressure, causing it to leak from the most vulnerable point, not sure if its the AUX pump, or the stat housing, both of which I think are on the GB side of the engine?
  14. Yes, think I have the same prob. I'm not sure if its a bodge, but I put some rad weld into the system, and all seems to be OK since then. think I also read that the VR's have a common prob with the oil cooler sandwich plate leaking, which in my limited knowledge, could let water into the block?
  15. Normal Temps Like I say, the top hose was rock, with exesive pressure relesed when i opened the expantion tank?
  16. Cheers. just so I know where I am, why would the cooling system become pressuised if the water pump had gone?
  17. Think the pump is working, its circulating up to the header tank
