  1. Awrite folks I saw this picture on E38 of a VR with its TB and air filter routed to the N/S as opposed to the O/S. I was wanting to have a section of polished pipe made up to take the air filter to the N/S but this would look a little better I think. Does anybody know how this has been done? Here's a quick pic of what I'm blabbing on about. Ken
  2. Thanks for that guys. think I'll be saving this thread for future reference lol Does it still cope ok with low boost pressures? Ie if I was wanting some economy as my vr is my daily driver so at times I'd need to be bringing back some decent mpg. Thank again Ken
  3. Thanks for that mate thats jsut what I was wanting to hear/read I'm not wanting something crazy to start of with just something with a bit of potential Any chance you could post the spec your currently running? One thing I really dont have a clue about is the management side of things, but C2 is a name that comes up alot. Can you manually adjust the boost while using the C2 software and still have decent fueling? Apologies for that sounding stupid :$ Ken
  4. What kinda power is you car running the now?

    Turbo buying..

3L mk2 VR6 turbo, you need to get a build thread on the go man!
  6. Can buy a 3.0L piston set from Schimmel Performance . . . http://www.spturboparts.com/aftermarket/ViewDetails.aspx?prod=15866
  7. Thanks for that mate. I see that the turbo your using, I was gonna ask about which manifold too, your sig says ATP I guess thats what you'd recommend?
  8. What kinda spec turbo would get you up to 400lbs/ft in the long run but still be good before I can afford pistons etc? Maybe 320/340 lbs/ft before going with a full built bottom end. Apologies for the thread jacking mate.
  9. Just had mine RR'd on Saturday, car has a Milltek system and old ramair filter Make 189.5bhp and 177lbs/ft, pretty pleased with that.
  10. How does the Rotrex seem to not suffer from belt slit yet the vortech does, its not got a toothed belt like g40s and g60s does it?
  11. I'm just saying its not the most attractive set up, a polished Vortech looks nicer but I dont think there's any denying the Rotrex is the superoir supercharger. Just out of interest, what are the containers located close to the charger? The black one is for the Aquamist right but what are the other two? (black one with pipes going to it and greyish one that looks like its for filling something up)
  12. Yeh, I've seen plenty of turbo'd VRs with smoothed bays or even ones with hidden boost pipes etc, I'm not dissing the rotrex set up you have as I'm hoping to go down that route just think it could do with a tidy up.
  13. The only thing I dont like about these is they seem to be a bit messy, I've almost got all of the clutter out of my engine bay, anybody got other pictures of thier setups? Ken
  14. I didnt know such a function existed lol I'll give it a bash, but people can feel free to put they're names up here.
  15. Awrite I'm a relative newbie to the VR6OC forum but I noticed that the official club rolling road day is down south. I dunno how many Scottish Members there are on the forum but I'm sure there's plenty who'd like to see what they're car is putting out. I'd be willing to try and organise the day if there was enough interest, so put your names down if you'd be up for it. It would probably be at Dastek Dastek Dastek House 16 Ridge Way Dalgety Bay Fife KY11 9JN I'll start the list . . . . 1: Ken (kcw)
  16. The VRs been going through a bit much petrol recently so stuck it on my mates VAGCOM and got the above Error Code. Idle Speed Regulation : Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded. I've got a few possible causes but can anyobe help me narrow it down? Ken

    turbo query

There's a guy on E38 using a SPA turbo manifold and is running over 400bhp, the car is on pistonheads if you wanna see how the fit is. That kit has no instructions and looks to have more than 100 parts so I could see you getting lost unless you know what your doing. It also has no downpipe which you will have to factor in, that might not be a bad thing as it seems thier one blocks half the turbo, a "snakehead" would be much more beneficial. Even after saying all that with the dollar so pants at the minute its only £443 and thats frankly stupidly cheap for a turbo set up, finding it hard to n
  18. I'll drop them an email the now. Do they have a UK site? I can only seem to find the US version which sayings they only sell VF Engineering chargers for the mk3 not the Vortech ones. Or am I being really stupid and they're the same? Edit: The site I was on was the UK version I just throught it was US due to it being .com
  19. Been looking on the Vortech website and the V9 G trim charger has better gearing for more boost and also runs staight cut gears, I think the F-trim ones are hilical (like the gears in a 'box) must be so much louder with the staight gears if its anything like a car running a dog box lol So where's this shop that sells the uprated bearings and gears? (6)
  20. I'll let you know bud, I'll see how I get on, might go mad with the bay lol So I'll let you know,
  21. Does the added torque the shrick gives you low down effect the top end much?
  22. Where can you get the uprated bearings? Direct from Vortech? Presumably they'd sell the higher boost pullies too if they sell the uprated bearings for higher boost.
  23. Guess thats out of the question then, was looking for that kinda boost but cant afford turbo or otrex unfortunately. Cheers for the reply though.
  24. How much work would be involved in having a custom pulley made up, for say 15psi? Would the smaller the puley make for alot more belt slip? Although if it was on a z-eng that wouldnt be an issue. Ken
